Buyer beware. Academically their social work program is great. Financially, very dishonest at their aid office and cruel. They will bait and switch you with a lower tuition rate that is outdated and then act fake suprised when you are charged 70% more. They will then claim they cannot change it until next year to keep you stuck. By that time it will be too late to transfer as most MSW programs only accept 12 maybe 15 credits max. This leaves you with less money for living expenses which are included in the coa. They will try to guilt trip you buy saying its for educational costs only when they know damn well it includes rent, food etc.. So do not attend if you want a transparent, respectful and competent financial aid office. They will falsely advertise and refuse to change it then lie and claim they will next year to get you out their office and keep you trapped. They will ignore your emails and calls and try to send you in circles when you go in person. No one takes accountability. They are the most disorganized, unprofessional, crooked financial aid office I have ever come across. They will take ages to even give you your financial aid package. You won't know what loans you have etc until a week or so before. Don't make the mistske I did. They have a great program but their office makes it impossible for working students who do not have family etc they can rely on and who live off campus on their own to survive, despite claiming to support low income students. You have been warned.

This review is based on a tour that I took, and I will talk about most of the pictures that I took. There are monitors in the hallways. They have the weather on them or events. There's a useful board that has all of the students’ activities. When you walk around you will see the balloons that were put together creatively. The presentation was about majors, tuition, and housing. They were kind enough to give us a tour of The Nest. There is plenty of parking space. The lobby was well designed. It had a quiet place to study, a gaming place, and a gym. When we went to see the model of the apartments. I realized that there were alarms and fire extinguishers, which is a good thing for safety. The apartment has everything in it! It has a dishwasher, microwave, and furniture. There were 4 rooms, 2 bathrooms, and a living room. The cafeteria was huge and I like the fact that students and professors eat there. The food wasn’t that bad. I like the fries and the chicken fingers more than cheeseburger.

I had a great experience during my graduate studies there. The best professors, and small enough to feel like faculty and admin care about students.

NEIU Registration Office has a man named Tom who is so unhelpful and rude. Posted hours are 8:30 - 4:30 and it wasn’t till 8:40 that Tom arrived to unlock the doors to D101

Find a better school to go to. They don’t communicate and barely will answer the phones. The curriculum is years out of date. The professors don’t update the learning materials or correct errors in their assignments on D2L. The school overcharges tuition and won’t correct their admin mistakes. They are not military veteran friendly and will charge late fees when veteran benefits are pending payment. MS EXSC Graduate.

One of the finest cafe in this university, used to enjoy flavored green teas, very affordable for the students. Coffee and bagels.

I graduated from the school in 2006 with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. The veterans representative and admissions staff did a remarkable job and not only making sure that I got paid for my GI Bill but also use the ace transcript to convert military education and civilian education as well as transferring three classes that I took online when I was in the military to put towards my college transcript . Thanks to the efforts of admission, veterans representative, my academic advisor and myself I was able to get my bachelor's degree completed at Northeastern in 2 years and 4 months. The only concern I had about the school was one teacher that was unfit that was in the social work program when I went to school back then. The good news is that teacher is no longer at the school and on top of that the school now offers a master's degree program. If I could give the school more than five stars I would especially since from what it looks like the current staff in the social work department has the highest credentials that I could ever recall.

I received an undergraduate degree in education from Northeastern several decades ago. At that time the campus was basic but was just beginning to expand as it has been ever since with newer facilities. The teaching was superior but I didn’t feel that the college of education staff prepared students adequately to become teachers. There was heavy emphasis on lesson planning but in reality there should have been greater focus on how to maintain classroom order, techniques for managing disruptive students etc. Teaching is an extremely difficult profession these days due to many disruptions in the classroom. A teacher who has a tremendous knowledge of subject matter and excellent lesson plans will most likely fail as a teacher if he/she can’t create a proper learning environment. A teacher who is able to instill a sense of self discipline in children and keeps order can be a successful teacher. Hopefully Northeastern has fine-tuned its teacher preparation.

The school is very diverse and a lower budget choice. I graduated from their science/education programs. I found my degree in Biology to be challenging and largely based on book memorization with occasional hands on experience. Their lab …

The school is failing to meet the needs of its students. My experience seeking support demonstrates a lack of understanding and a resistance to change.

Have to give it 1 star because administration is so trash it takes away from the whole school. Nice not too expensive small school in a safe diverse area. Some of the classrooms are old and still use chalk boards. Decent teachers. Horrible …

This school is on its' way out. They fired half the staff during the state budget impasse in 2017, so now class sections are extra-packed and to get in with a teacher who is of any quality you must be prepared months and months in advance. …

Good school. Very diverse. Population is a reflection of the neighborhood. Some really good teachers and some that get a slight thrill out of making students suffer. There are many things to do on campus between classes and it feels less like a "city school" and more like you are just on a college campus.
