This review is strictly for the online program at LSUA. If you're currently googling online programs and uncertain which to choose from, please read this. The online program at LSUA needs to be revamped. Between the program itself and the professors "teaching" it, it needs to be thrown away and redone from scratch. All of it. Here are the various reasons you should NOT choose LSUA for your degree. Money. Even if you have a grant, scholarship, whatever, you will be paying for so many unnecessary fees. Fees that don't even apply to you as an online student. Why am I paying a technology fee? An educational fee? A sports fee? On top of tuition, you are required to pay for the online access codes and all of your tests, including the one at graduation, which lets LSUA know just how well they are doing (none of these are included in tuition). It's a survey basically and you have to pay for it. Every test you take for your classes, you're paying for it. $13-50 depending on the class. Do the math. That adds up. Access codes are a joke. I just paid the school for a professor to teach me, yet I'm paying $150 extra for McGraw Hill to teach me the entire class (again, not included in tuition). Curriculum. I haven't learned anything in this program. The professors don't teach. They reuse videos from COVID years. They barely interact with you and when they do, it's strictly via chatGPT. The curriculum is basically the same across the board. Answer forums, take 1,000 quizzes and then cram for the midterm and final. Walk away learning absolutely nothing. Professors. In my 3 years at LSUA, I have had a handful of professors who actually have cared about the student's learning and well-being. Most act like you're inconveniencing them. Because god forbid an online student pop out of hiding with a question. Many professors are on a power trip. "You will call me doctor." "You won't make it very far. Might want to rethink your major." "I won't be hosting a review this week." Which also happens to be the last week of class, project due, final due and a thousand other assignments due. Yet the professor can't be bothered to spend one hour of their time to go over the material. (This professor only held 3 reviews in a 7-week class.) Lack of administration oversight. Despite contacting administration/various department heads about different issues, no one acts on anything. Should you contact anyone about an important issue, you'll be met with, "it's being handled" or "I guess that's how that professor operates" or even straight up lies, just to shoo you away. ChatGPT. Your professors and faculty will communicate with you only through chatGPT. Even though you'll spend thousands of dollars at this university in hopes of a professor teaching you, it'll all just be funneled through the infamous A.I. platform. An absolute joke, if you ask me. In the end, I suggest you go with a different university. This one is a complete waste of time. I guarantee, at the end of the program, you and all of your classmates will be saying, "This program did not prepare me in the slightest for the real world. I have learned nothing." You also won't find any jobs because I'm pretty sure everyone knows that LSUA's program is a sham.
Amazing campus! Grounds are beautiful, and the faculty and staff are very welcoming.
I earned my Bachelor's degree at LSUA and loved the four years that I spent on it's campus. The professors were great, and the campus was very clean. I worked as a student worker, therefore I met a lot of the faculty and staff. Almost all of them were very kind and helpful.
Loved and the campus and faculty was very welcoming
A Great Community College in Central Louisiana. They've now added on Dorm Room/Apartment's, A Pond with 2 huge fountains, and a Baseball field. The College is small enough that you don't really need a vehicle to travel. You can walk on one of their several shaded 'walk paths' through out the Campus. They have a Dog path here as well, which is very clean and shady. It also includes a water drinking fountain for dogs, as well as one for people to drink from, especially when the heat ramps up during those summer months. This place is great for a first time Highschool graduate that maybe can't afford a big College like LSU or Southern Miss. I went here for 2 semesters and had a great time. I also walk my dog here on occasion and use the gym facilities as well.
Since LSU doesn't have it's own location I'll have to do my review for their internet page here. I found the site through a search on Google and thought it looked interesting. I looked around the site to see what university I was actually reading about. Nowhere did they specify what the hell LSU actually stood for. I had to make a secondary Google search to find this out. Completely unacceptable in this day and age, sorry. Focusing on trying to sell over the actual experience of the recipient is a sad trend in western society that I cannot give credibility to. Cheers.
At first this school was a 3 stars rating for me. Everything was messing up, but it got fixed! I just had to be patient. -Advisors are helpful and make it easy to schedule classes. -Testing center is wonderful. -Professors are amazing. So helpful, and I have learned so much from them. -LSUA provides all the resources I need. *I ordered a book from the bookstore never received it and was denied a refund. *The net partner and self service are a little confusing. Maybe think of combining them?
its a growing university, with a great future. Basketball coach is an up and coming star
I like LSUA but the admissions office is VERY unprofessional, especially the International office. I mailed in an application for admission. I never received any correspondence to confirm whether my application was ever received, and never received a denial letter either! The only indicator that my application was received was when the $80.00 application fees check was cashed. I even called at least 3 times to follow up, left messages and still NEVER received any call back! Horrible experience....
Before I say anything.... Their hearts in the right place when it comes to activities, sports, etc. However, I have not been served. This is my experience. The financial aid department needs work and the relationship between the academic advisors and financial aid needs improvement. The "change" is unnecessary if you cannot help students. I have not been helped.
