The in-seat classes here are alright, but the online classes are very bad. The online classes barely have any of their own course material, and send you to complete LinkedIn courses, or to watch random YouTube videos. When they do have textbooks, they don't tell you what to read. They use online discussion boards for every assignment and act like that's teaching or learning something. Feedback will be "Good job" or "didn't write enough", which teaches you nothing. Their online option feels like checking a box and will not prepare you for a career.

I have attended and successfully completed 2 other online programs at other institutions. I started the NP program at Maryville and quickly regretted it. They use so many different programs and apps. I always felt I was missing information. The exams are heavily weighted and the preparation for them are terrible. They provide study guides that encompass the entire content! This program was terrible. It’s definitely not designed for working parents. It’s more for those that can devote time chasing information. I learned more from YouTubes than the “lectures”.

The masters program part time for the nurse practitioner program was so intense. The school made you believe that you can work and still be a full time mother in the program, WRONG. I went through 4 classes and the fifth class I was required to study hours a day because nursing exams are required. Unfortunately, I can’t get my money back. I wish the school was more honest and not sure if I’m going back next semester. There was no way I was going to do a 16 week course this summer where I had to study nonstop and my children are on summer break. It was impossible to do, so I had no choice but to withdraw. Program is costly as well, costing around 6k a semester. I’ve decided to not go back for my masters, too expensive.

The college was overall the best decision for me going for physical therapy as it was the nearest PT school near my home. Going here for PT was a fair decision. We learned a great deal, but it was overly stressful for no reason. If we failed a class, it was “you can apply to re-enter the program a year behind your classmates.” Whereas MD students at Mizzou would simply be allowed to take another exam in a few weeks if they didn’t meet requirement grades at first on an exam. It seemed as though the PT program wanted the students to fail. They seemed to enjoy watching the students be in fear of failing and their years of schooling be for nothing - like an abuse of power to watch those under them be instilled with stress and fear. I’m not one who is afraid of work either. This is a general thought from classmates and myself. However, going to this university for degrees that can be completed else where, seems to be a poor decision. Most others I spoke with were getting a degree at the university at a much higher price than other nearby universities would charge. Several of my classmates freshman year realized this and left for better option universities. The university is also unapologetically, obnoxiously liberal. They claim to be “diverse” and by that the university means it will not tolerate the idea of conservatism. Very on sided, hypocritical. This is all my opinion, much toned down for public posting.

I attended an online Cyber Security program through MV and honestly it was a total waste. No real world experience, just writing papers and reading books that prepare you for various exams (which NEWS FLASH you can do on your own). The most ridiculous thing is that there were NO LECTURES during the entire course. I never heard an instructions voice. All they did was grade papers and handed out “As”. No real job assistance after the courses were finished. Total waste of money, I strongly suggest against their online programs, you’d probably have better luck attending an intense bootcamp style program with actual job placement assistance.

As a First Year Maryville Student from Massachusetts. I am very disappointed with my campus life experience at Maryville: 1. The food on campus overpriced for poor quality. Students have spoken up about it on multiple occasions and they refuse to add other food places because of their deal with "fresh Ideas." The food isn't even fresh 99% of the time. 3. I am an out of state student, so I do not have a car in order to get around. This campus offers no transportation for off campus events whatsoever. So if you want to go to six flags or a Cardinals game, make sure you know someone with a car. 4. On campus events dont have enough gear/food for students either. If you wanna go to an on campus even youre going to have to get there 1 hour - 30 min. beforehand if you wish for food or exclusive items. Im a person who has a small palette and find it very frustrating when they advertise all these food options and only have little to no food left 5. For family weekend, you have to pay to participate. I find this odd because usually its free for college parents. 6. Depending on your major registration is a nightmare. The school doesn't offer enough on-campus classes for students. The only way they're going to solve this is remove Fridays as a day off and take away students 3 day weekends. 7. I also live in Saints Hall. I love the dorm rooms, but theres no kitchen or anything within the dorm hall where you can cook. Instead in the main room/floor by the front entrance of the hall, there's a microwave and toaster oven. Both of them are extremely dirty and not kept clean at all, so dont even try cooking in it unless you plan on buying your own Long story short, I believe any college back in your home state has a lot more to offer than what Maryville has. Its not worth the aggravation.

The online master degree in nursing has group work for every single class and almost every week. That doesn't seem so bad until you realizes that there are students all over the country in different time zones working 12 hrs shift. It is difficult to get everyone together on the same day and time, not mentioning the huge impact it has on your grades. So your grade is going to depend on everyone else. That for me destroys the Independence of online school that most working adults are looking for. Not mentioning all the drama that involves group work. The semester costs around $5,500, and I think that is too much money to have your grades jeopardize by inconvenient and excessive group work.

Very disappointed. Applied for a master's program, and they completely misrepresented what would be in the course work. After the first semester it became very clear that I was lied to about what was going to be in the program, and I withdrew. Unfortunately I can't get my money back for the student loans, so I have to take that on the chin. This university's online programs are very similar to a pyramid scheme, so be sure you know what you're getting into.

If the admission representative I spoke to today is a reflection of what to expect from Maryville University, I would suggest you look elsewhere. I requested information so I can determine the best path to a graduate degree. I was mocked, scoffed and laughed at by the representative. I tried to explain my purpose, and she continued to talk over me. The worse demeaning attitude I've encountered in ages. I refuse to even consider other program options at this school simply due to my interaction today.

Talked to an advisor 3 different times. The first time was a short call had no idea what was going on, okay whatever. Said he would figure things out and scheduled another appointment. Second call his man concern was me attending the webinar and informed me I could only take 2 classes for the first term and a total of 15 credits for the semester. News to me but okay if that's how its gotta be; okay, asked him with less than a month before classes why am I not in any classes yet? He said he would figure it out and get the ball rolling and made another appointment for August 12 to be sure everything was figured out. Third appointment still no classes, and no call. Talked to a different advisor and she told me he would call me back. Finally got from my advisor on the phone 2 hours after appointment where he began with saying I could only take 12 credit hours this semester till I got a gpa for maryville. Towards the end it was now only 9 credit hours for the 1st semester. What! Jack said depending on my gpa this semester I may be able to take 18 next semester. Really? Like I could even remotely believe that after switching 3 times. Bye Maryville! Thanks for leaving me 2 weeks to find a different college to go to! Train your staff with your 622$ per credit hour BS!
