Easy to get to by many buses (1, 25, 31, 34) running in the area. 2 ATMs (BofA works & WF breaks down often) to get cash. There's a cafeteria (pricey IMHO) and microwave so if you drive, leave a cooler in the trunk with your food and heat it up in the cafeteria. Be cautious when using the men's restroom in the cafeteria. When the entrance door is open, it offers no privacy so use the stalls. Update: The cafeteria is also open on Saturday but closes around noon/12pm and is subject to change. The vending machines will take cash, coins debit and credit cards. There is a charge tacked on for non-currency payments and this is per item and fee to use a credit card in the cafeteria. WiFi is on campus. If you are connecting a device without mobile data, go to Information Commons on the 4th floor before class starts and sign in from a computer. Once that is done, it's easy to connect your laptop/MacBook/tablet to the WiFi going forward. If you have mobile data, sign in that way and save a trip to IC then connect normally. Renovation is in progress so some areas will be blocked off to the public.

My experience at Essex County College has been nothing short of horrible. The lack of professionalism, guidance, and support from staff has left me extremely disappointed and frustrated. I began attending this school in September of last year. Right from the start, there were red flags. I was mistakenly registered for the wrong major, which I had to correct myself once I noticed the error. Still, I gave the school the benefit of the doubt — something I now regret. During my second semester, I had to drop a class due to circumstances beyond my control. I spoke with my advisor, who assured me it was okay to drop it. The professor of the class even encouraged students to drop if they were having difficulties. What no one told me, however, was that dropping the class would bring me below the 6-credit minimum required for the grant I was enrolled in. As a result, I was hit with a charge of over $2,000. When I contacted the Financial Aid office to understand the charge, I was met with rudeness and unprofessional behavior. I was told that I "should’ve asked" about the credit requirement — as if new students are expected to come in already knowing all of the fine print. At no point did anyone inform me that dropping to 5 credits would make me ineligible for aid. This was a major oversight on their part. I reached out to the president, vice president, and dean. Eventually, I was directed to Dean Kirkland, who was dismissive, nonchalant, and unhelpful. He told me he would look into it, but I had to follow up multiple times just to get a response. When he finally got back to me, he said the best he could do was remove the charge for the class I dropped — ignoring the much larger issue of the financial aid adjustment and lack of proper guidance. He wouldn’t even let me finish explaining my situation during our conversation. Now, I’m stuck with a bill of over $1,300. Because of this balance, my transcripts are locked and I’m unable to access any official documentation showing that I attended or which classes I took. I also cannot register for the next semester, leaving me completely stuck in limbo through no fault of my own. In short, this college does not care if you succeed, drop out, or fail. If you’re looking for a supportive environment with professional, caring staff who want to see you thrive, look elsewhere. Essex County College failed me in every possible way, and I would strongly advise anyone considering it to think twice before enrolling. Don’t waste your time, energy, or money

“Our very own — there’s truly no place like home! Every school has its ups and downs, and ours was no exception, but through it all, we stood strong, we grew, and we made it together! 💪🎓❤️” …

To be literally honest, ECC is an affordable college. I love few professors here because they are great, I hate most professors here because they are not really up to the mainstream of academia.

Haven’t stepped foot inside this place but my first impressions are pretty poor. I came here to speak with someone and the entire building is locked up, called and there aren’t any announcements or mssgs saying they are closed. I had to ask a construction worker if they were open and he told me no. A word of advice, maybe post on your webpage or have an automated msg when people call saying the school is not open due to construction. There were a few other people just walking around the campus. Do much better.

Very well organized and safe setting. The staff is friendly and makes you feel at ease. I felt comfortable and confident. The injection didn't even hurt. After vaccine you wait 15 minutes to make sure you get no reaction. Looking forward to getting my second. Don't hesitate, go for it.

I like the school and it has given me a chance to grow and be better in life. The faculty has been helpful and patient with my request which include; financial aid, advisement with classes etc. I would like additional options for virtual learning; but I am not going to let the pursuit of the perfect, get in the way of the good enough. Good look and as my uncle would say " peace, love and hair grease." 🤣🤙🏽
