I visited Financial Aid in person to address what I believed to be a discrepancy between my attempted credits and my earned credits. I brought with me my transcripts and was accompanied by employees from Admissions and Records who were willing to help clarify the matter. Unfortunately, the experience I had with the Financial Aid staff during that visit was extremely disappointing. Rather than listening to my concern, I was told, in a dismissive manner, that they would not run another report. Even as the Admissions and Records staff attempted to engage with them to resolve the issue, the Financial Aid staff continued to refuse. The tone and demeanor felt not only unhelpful, but also unnecessarily rude, as though my bringing up a concern was an inconvenience. The student individual and the (coordinator?) refused to look at emails sent to me the day before and the transcript that Records and Admissions printed out and brought over to Financial Aid. As a paying student and an Iraq War veteran, I expect to be treated with professionalism and respect when seeking assistance from TMCC. The interaction left me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a student. In fact, the experience was so negative that I briefly considered leaving TMCC altogether. The only reason I did not was because of the kindness and professionalism shown to me by the Admissions and Records team, who demonstrated that not everyone at TMCC treats students in such a manner. I hope that this feedback will be taken seriously, and that steps will be taken to ensure students who raise concerns are treated with respect and given a fair opportunity to have their issues addressed.

This is my first time going back to college enrollment process and it was absolutely terrible experience. I had an appointment with an advisor it’s my first time back in quite a while I asked the student workers at Welcome Center (an older lady and a colored short hair girl) the older lady just gave me an rude look like why did I interrupt their conversation? Then I asked her where academic advising is. I arrived to academic advising the 2 girls in the front very loud and talking about their personal life not acknowledging me anyways got checked in. I met with an advisor it was delayed about 15 mins anyways he wasn’t knowledgeable about my appointment he asked “how can I help you today?” I mean didn’t we speak over the phone about why I’m here? Isn’t it on the notes? Anyways he was very rude he said if you sent them on last week we don’t have them yet but yet you found them in your system. TMCC said found out that my classes aren’t accredited to TMCC standards which is ridiculous because other nursing schools are accredited (might not be the same accreditation) but have students graduating and working with nursing degree and license in Reno but yet TMCC won’t accept my previous credits. That’s crazy I thought coming to TMCC would be good experience but seem like it isn’t.

I have had a much different experience from most: I have had great teachers (beside one). Please, PLEASE, take ASL with Greg McNulty. He is the best and its a great skill to have. John Reed for history is also the second best teacher i have ever had for the subject in general (a hippy who lived through half of it beats you out due to the fact he has a musket in his room) Testing for online classes was good. Front desk was helpful. Started TMCC's second ever robotics club and got little funding or interest from TMCC. Its not an engineering school i understand but we got shafted. No help trying to find room for us to stay so my house is taken over with supplies :D

I've liked it so far. You need to be proactive and treat college seriously. This isn't high school where things are spoonfed to you. It prepares you for real life where deadlines matter, effort matters, and sometimes, you need to use critical thinking skills to figure something out. I've mostly had fantastic teachers who are really passionate about educating. It's very online friendly which is what I do with an occasional trip to campus.

The teachers here, teahc off pre-made online class material. I have learned NOTHING new to me in over 2 years due to the teachers in the general education sector using the same class material over and over again. Passing classes is easy but the teachers here will make you want to rip your hair out and dye it blue.

This school was not the best school to attend. The teachers did not help. I was in a Biology class. My teacher's lecture was hard to understand. I would spend hours on Pearson. An online program that you pay a hundred dollars. It was so unhelpful and made learning much harder. Some teachers do not care if you pass. They even told me that in class. You spend semesters on end trying to pass one class. Within my school life, I have never been to a school where teachers do not care about their students. I would not recommend this school as a first-time college student. It will be hard for you to get your degree. If you want to succeed and learn, you should consider another college. DO NOT you won't waste your timegoing here.

I went here for 2 years and my advice to you if you or your child is disabled is to go somewhere else if you need accommodations. They tell you that they have all these accommodations but they're lying to you. When I got registered and everything and met with the DRC, I was told that I couldn't have extra time because it "changes the curriculum." The "accommodations" they do have are completely useless as well. Unless you want to be stressed out to the brink of insanity without your accommodations, go somewhere else. This review is only getting 3 stars because the professors I met were nice people and the fries were good.

Awful experience when I returned as an alumni. Lost my father quite suddenly to suicide nearing the end of the semester. I tried to continue with my studies in the spring only to realize that I simply couldn't. I was basically, emotionally and physically unable to get out of bed, let alone attend class. They rejected my "exception to the refund" request and failed me for the semester even after providing all the necessary documents. Horrible institution and horrible administrators. What a shame that it's the only community college in thr Reno /Sparks area.

tmcc is a good place to start, i got through my classes and received my AA degree! however, tmcc academic advisors DO NOT warn you about filing appeals. example: time management, and low gpa below 2.0. with this being said, if you have to file an appeal, and you have gone through fasfa for a pell grant, you cannot receive that grant until you file the appeal. i have one class left to take to receive another degree, and an academic advisor decided to tell me this last minute before my class starts. in which i did not know that i cannot get my pell grant, and that i have to py out of pocket to take my LAST class. my summer class starts in two weeks, and they just now decide to notify me of this situation. could have told me a month in advance; i have been speaking to financial aid back and forth touching base about my pell grant and they did NOT onve bring this up to me! instead i get a nasty email informing me about the appeal that needs to be filed. with that being said, tmcc financial aid and academic advisors are keeping me from completing my last class so i can graduate all because they could not reach out to me, and tell me themselves about what is going on.

I've been going to TMCC for since 2021, and I am so happy with it! I work part-time on campus while taking classes, which saves on transportation. Campus is small enough to navigate quickly between classes, and there's lots of well-kept plants and colorful flowers. All the employees and students I've met have been very nice and helpful too! Especially in the DRC, Financial Aid Office, and VRC. The buildings are gradually getting updated as well, though some of it is still a bit old fashioned. The food at Café Verde and the Coffee Bar is pretty awesome, but prices have been getting higher so I'd recommend budgeting when you want to get something hot to eat. Vending machines are all over campus though if you need a quick snack. As for studying, the Learning Commons (TMCC Dandini Library) is awesome! There's always study rooms available on the first and second floor, and research is a breeze.
