The cafeteria is subpar, but the professors and community make up for it by a lot. Unlike most universities, CIU’s professors are personable and invested in their students’ lives. They will even get lunch with you or invite you over to their house! CIU’s program options allow for a lot of customization and flexibility, especially within the Bible program. Chapels are really good, and I especially love President Bill Jones’ chapels. My one issue with chapel is the song selection; they feel less like worship and more like self-centered feel-good songs. The dorms are spacious, but the bathrooms could use some work. Other facilities, like the prayer towers, the student center, and the library are well maintained and serve their purposes. The grounds staff does a phenomenal job keeping the campus clean and beautiful. The price may seem daunting, but after financial aid, CIU was my cheapest option by a long shot. I highly recommend attending.
We had the most AHHHMAZING tour experience guided by the Dean of ICU, Scott R. Adams J.D. himself. I am so impressed with every aspect of this beautiful, immaculate campus. It is such a phenomenal learning environment for the students surrounded with walking trails, lakes, meditation locations, State of the Art Sports Fields, a beautiful Seminary, incredible Business School, IT School, Nursing School, etc.. Mr. Adams was so full of knowledge about everything we enquired about, so much so, he made me want to go back to school tjere!!!
Very nice school. Quality education. We have 3 of our children who graduated from here. All started at different schools. They are helpful with transferring and giving a quality education. When an issue came up I emailed the administration and got a quick response. We are thankful for CIU. They are reputable and offer an excellent education.
Avoid at all costs. The spiritual damage this has caused me has taken almost 10 years to get me back to being okay with entering a church without having an anxiety attack. It takes about a semester to see this place for what it really is. Yeah, the tours are nice and it feels like a place where God is at work... But it's really just a den of Pharisees. Trust the negative reviews. Don't let your kids come here!
CIU is a wonderful place to grow in Christ and to prepare for your future. Scripture is integrated in to every class and the staff and faculty are incredible role models and friends. Living on campus is a blast and there are so many great opportunities for friendship and leadership.
I loved and greatly benefited from my experience at CIU. I know personally that I grew leaps and bounds in my four years there. Educationally the classes helped me form a solid biblical foundation from which I now teach the girls I disciple. Spiritually so many of the faculty and staff loved and invested in me as I was figuring out life as a college student. I am a better person because I attended CIU and would 100% recommend the school.
Class of '94 and '01. Sure it was expensive, but the education was excellent for the most part. The faculty and staff showed me grace in many areas especially in my lack of academic preparation. There were quite a few faculty and staff who really showed interest in me because they knew what it meant to be made in God's image. The school guards carefully the Word of God. I would encourage anyone to think about coming here to see for themselves.
CIU has a longstanding history of covering up the truth, getting rid of "inconvenient" people, and making absurd decisions regarding the future of the school. I do not recommend this school to anyone. I loved some of the staff/professors there, but most of them are gone and the school has slid even further into being a reprehensible organization that supports anti-semitic, anti-black, anti-Mexican hate speech and abusive individuals.
I love this place. The small campus makes dining, residence halls, and classes all easily accessible from one another. CIU also has an 'overlook' of sorts that is over the athletic fields which is really beautiful at sunset. This is a great college for anyone looking for a small college with great faculty.
CIU is a con. You realize it after a year or two as a student there. CIU is an embarrassment to higher education. The degrees and programs offered provide little to no value in the actual world. You may think you will go into full-time Christian ministry, but most graduates of CIU do not. As a former Student President and graduate of CIU, I am ashamed of Columbia International University and I hope prospective students and their parents think twice before making the decision to go. Fast forward 4 years, you will have collected over 100K in tuition fees, you will have two useless degrees, and those 'degrees' will be from a nonreputable, unheard of university. You won't care about any of this at 17 or 18 years old. You will think student loans are fine and a degree won't affect my life much. It took me almost 15 years to pay off my loans with family help and scholarships. My 2 degrees have not helped me since the day I graduated. I say again, CIU is a con. The institution and faculty know it. It is an illusion - what you think will be, will not be. Every year new students arrive with desire and ideas for their lives - so many leave empty-handed and jaded by the experience.
