Walked in requesting to talk to an advisor about taking classes and was literally rushed out the building. The wait time to speak to an advisor was longer than the time spent talking to them. The advisor acted like he didn't care about his job and like I was bothering him. If the advisors are a representation of this school then I would strongly advise you to stay away. Guess I should've read the reviews before I wasted my gas to drive 25 mins.
I've been looking for a good community college for a while. I'll be the first person in my family to graduate, and I'm doing this alone, so this is all new to me. I really wasn't happy just trying to get basic information out of admissions or the advisors. They want you to decide on a course and be locked into applying before you can even speak to an anyone. All I could get was a tour, which was all of five minutes pointing at various closed doors. The rest of these google reviews seem to imply that you really just have to figure out everything on your own. Now look at the website for any of the Dallas colleges in the area and see how much more information is available to you before you even apply. Their tuition is pretty much the same too. You also don't get in-county rates at any NCTC school if you live in Denton county, so if you're outside of Cook or Dallas county, you're not getting in-county rates anywhere.
i have not had a good experience when dealing with the advisors of this college. every time i went to go talk to them, i felt like they acted like i was bothering them just by being there. i always felt rushed, like they did not take the time to fully try to help me, instead they just wanted to hurry up and get me out of there. my boyfriend who use to go to this college has had complaints with the advisors as well. i also have had problems here and there with the college such as them overcharging me for things and messing up my classes. i have had no good experiences when trying to talk to someone or ask for help from this college.
I am so sick of the advisors and lack of help. From the beginning of my time here at NCTC, I have had to figure out everything on my own because my first advisor registered me for classes I did NOT need for my major. Furthermore, due to everything happening due to COVID 19, we should be allowed to move to pass / fail if we choose as it says we are able to on the OFFICIAL website. But administration is not allowing for it REGARDLESS of the benefit that it would hold for some students. I am so fed up with this school. Some of the professors are lovely and that is the only reason for 2 stars.
I've been going to NCTC for the last three years. I have a lot of pride for this school, and try to help people get into it. There are a lot of opportunities for students that the students just need to reach out to get. There are kind people to help all over you just need to ask. There are also a lot of place to get friends such as through the NCTC app, by going to Student Life events, or by talking to fellow classmates. The teachers want you to pass. The staff members do the best they can.
Brought my kid to this location to take classes that were not offered at the Flower Mound campus. My kid enjoyed this location and enjoyed the cafeteria that is open at this location. My kid met several new students at this location and enjoys the classes that she has at this location. My kid indicated that the students that she has met here are of a wide variety and offers unique insight into the different opinions presented by the students in this area.
I hate this school. I’ve been going here for almost two years now and I’ve had nothing but problems from them. To anyone planning on attending: DO NOT GO TO THE ADVISORS. They will screw you over because the majority of them have no idea what they are doing. I signed up for spring classes and paid for them IN OCTOBER, AKA THREE months before classes begin this spring only to find out they waitlisted me on a class that I had first-come first-serve on. I was one of the first people to sign up and they waitlisted me less than a week before classes begin? I don’t effing think so. This school is the very definitikn of stressful. The only upside is that the majority of professors can actually teach. I wish I could give this campus a zero out of five stars.
Expensive compared to Dallas College (formerly Dallas County Community College District). Dallas College has several campuses in several cities over a wide territory, whereas NCTC'S main campus is in Gainesville,so campuses outside Cooke County are considered out of district. I was out of district for both NCTC'S & DC, but the credit hour rate and courses offered by DC blow NCTC out of the water, especially if you are out of district & want on-line courses. I think registration is easier with DC, as well.
RUN! Absolutely the worse school a person could attend. Don't waste your time or money on an "education" here. Collin, Dallas, or Tarrant County colleges are way ahead of this institution if you need a community college credits. The instructors lack the skill to communicate.
Don’t go here to get your CDL the instructor leneasa Zachery is very rude and unprofessional and bias she will try to sabotage u from completing your training if she doesn’t like u and will lie to her bosses by make up rules showing favoritism wasted my time for three weeks said that I didn’t and wasn’t learning anything to get me removed from the class I was treated unfairly I didn’t miss a day of class they were very unprofessional and how they tried to remove me from class and lie about the reason it’s horrible school to go to I had terrible experience I don’t not recommend and they did not reimburse me for anything I paid out my pocket in which I was told I would be
