IF YOU UTILIZE BENEFITS AVOID THIS SCHOOL. IF YOU ARE MILITARY GO ANYWHERE ELSE. They will get you enrolled, making sure they get paid, and a day or two before classes start, they will drop all of your necessary classes so you are unable to take what is on your academic plan. They will not give you a reason for you being dropped, or blame it on you. The military office here consists of 1 person who does not assist whatsoever besides making sure the college gets your bennies. The advisors rotate out like priests. I use military benefits and they have SCAMMED me out of multiple semesters. Not to mention there is no help anywhere. Other CCs in Virginia do not do this. My current school has at least 4 advisors on site and legitimately fight for you.
I had a great experience there. Professors are professional and very criative on activities. I got classmates from all over the world, from countries that I didn't even know it existed. It did not just gave knowledge, it changed me in so many ways, it changed my life forever.
The professor was very rude at me and giving me that bad attitude and he told the class what to do. Mrs. Burklew is my mother and there was one student who was sleeping during class time while she was teaching the class. That's zero respect for any of the staff at the Anna Dale campus. The students are very nice. I highly recommend not going to the class. I tried to sign up for duall enrollment but I called them and they didn't answer the phone but it goes straight to voicemail which is very frustrating to me. Please don't go to this college anymore and try not to contact them.
Most people on the reviews are unhappy about the school's tuition prices. I honestly don't have much knowledge about price within the U.S higher education system (was on a full financial aid) but, apart from the price topic NOVA is a great school! First the quality of education is top notch. Second almost all the professors and advisors I've worked with were very supportive and caring for students' success. Third as long as you made the most use of them NOVA's got plenty of free and available state of the art high quality resources to help students succeed and have a great college experience. Library, tutoring centers, labs, open computer labs, student life, clubs, bookstores, cafes, lounges, etc, and even internship career connections! On top of all that you get to transfer to any four year college of your choice while holding an associate degree or some certificate which comes as beneficial for your internship or part time job. NOVA's campus environment and physical area is equivalent to a university. It's a wonderful school for a community college! SN: It's the second largest and one of the top community colleges in the country.
Don't Take Mrs. Sexton for English 101 and Don't take Mrs.K. because they not good at communicating nor do they follow their own Sybil's and don't ask the information desk for information ask classmates or friends for example about the shuttle etc.
Nova campus police doesn’t protect student and will charge you with bogus charges after you were the victim of an assault Interesting nova campus police turned off their reviews
NOVA seems determined to make it difficult for me to become a student. As someone new to college, I've called multiple times seeking help with my degree and how to get started. Each time, the advisors insist I need to come in person, and when I explain that I work full-time and can't do that, they tell me they can't assist over the phone. It’s frustrating that phone assistance is even an option if they’re unable or unwilling to provide real help this way. At this point, without starting all over with another college, I have to start at the end of January with NOVA. I will transfer to another college ASAP.
Northern Virginia Community College, a.k.a. NOVA, is one of the best great college for students who want to save tuition. Plus, they can have more time to think their appropriate major in here. For foreign students, NOVA’s ESL program is very well organized and popular so that you can experience the ethnic diversity in here.
*** This is my second attempt at writing a review on NOVA as they removed the last one. They are deleting my negative review that warns underprivileged families of their severe inadequacies, and this should concern anyone looking to attend this school. The public college should be more concerned about the welfare of their students rather than their public image. I will continue writing this review should they remove additional attempts. If this behavior continues, I will be contacting state and local authorities. *** It is my partner's third semester attending Northern Virginia Community College, and each year, the school takes exponentially longer to disperse financial aid. We are nearly half way through the semester, and he still has not received the funds he was awarded. He now needs to find part-time work in order to survive because the school is incompetent to disperse funds during the beginning of the semester. Students should not have to worry about securing funds for housing and food while receiving higher education. This is a complete failure, and anyone responsible should be reprimanded and/or fired for their gross incompetence.
Worst advising staff at room 113. I went there and the lady sitting at the front called me very rudely how can I help you? After that I clocked at the machine and waited two hours to get an advisor talking to me. After two hours waiting, an advisor she was black with curly hair, she did not even said hi to me. She talked to me for one minute outside her advising room, I asked why, she said that she get sick quickly and catch viruses from student, that is why she talk to them very quickly outside her room with zero privacy to students and in front of everybody. I will never register at this college again and I hope they can fix this problem with this rude advisor.
Great college that offers associate degrees to those pursuing careers in sciences, social sciences, and technology. They also offer certificates after completing certain programs.
OK. So I am a Alumni. I just have one beef with the school and that is the academic advisor that they gave me. Her name is Karen (I totally forgot her last name). She was so inconsistant and totally unreliable when it came to helping me …
Avoid enrolling to this school by any means necessary. Randomly placed a hold onto my financial aid account; further preventing me enrolling into classes for Fall Semester at an alternative community college (which is located in my area). …
Safe place to study, there was an upright piano in the cafeteria building that you can play anytime, the campus police are super friendly, administrator was so helpful, the area around was best to walk around if you like to spend time with friends, and I love the lake at the front of the cafeteria that's the beautiful one.
-5 stars is really the best review to give. DO NOT enroll into this college. The biggest mistake I’ve ever done. They will charge you anything and everything for no reason. Your likely hood of having a great professor is slim to none. I regret every second of it. Not sure how the reviews are so high.
I took about half a BS degree here various courses in business, nursing, biology, public speaking. Good price when I went. More expensive these days though. Still a lot less expensive than a 4 year college and you get the same credit. …
Its tough to give this place a 1 star, because a few of the professors are good. But most of them are in it for the money, and dont out anything into the class. Online classes have been a joke by most of the professors this summer. Some of …
Academic advising and financial aid have one job. ONE JOB — which they either have no clue how to do, or just don’t want to do it. I have had so many problems with NOVA from day one, I wish I could rate 0 stars. Recently, they dropped me …
GO Here then transfer I did two year here then I transferred to Mary Washington best decision ever my degree is already halfway done. Also nova is cheap and has great professors.
This school is a disgrace to the educational system. Very rude students, staff, professors, extremely unprofessional. Some classes are too easy, some are too hard, it's like high school 2.0. Students sleeping in class, not paying attention, …
