My experience with the place I thought was going to be great! The school is beautiful this was a perfect fit for my son but I was sadly mistaken. My son was going for music major, which my son really loves. He admired the music teacher as well. I was also warned TO NOT LET MY SON ATTEND THIS SCHOOL. The reason being that they will let your kid come to this school and go for the semester and tell you at the end of the semester that the kids financial aid didn't go through! When we spoke to someone in the financial aid department by the name of Mr. Johnson. It was told to me that they email me something from financial aid to sign and verify but NEVER received it. Then Mr. Johnson changed his story and said that it went to my son's email which I had total access to and it again NEVER came. I had a nice lady that took me to the head of financial aid to see if anything could be done but I was told. I CAN'T HELP YOU AND I HAVE BEEN BREAKING HEARTS ALL DAY LONG. This unset my son so bad when we left he was so sad because this is all he wanted to do. Now my son can't go back to school until he pays a 14,000 dollar tuition off. This is not the only story that I have heard. A lot of kids from Georgia have been treated this way and all of the kids know each other and have the same story. So if you're from Georgia go to another school. Not sure if it is for quota or money but this has hurt a lot of kids that just wanted to earn their education.
Enjoyed the football game. Troy has a very nice stadium & campus. Enough to recommend my granddaughter ought to give them a look for college. Try Hooks for great BBQ, too.
This school did not live up to its name. Most people give it 5 stars because the campus is beautiful. Big on sports and clubs, not education, only on money. They wait to the last minute to tell you financials and make you take out loans for classes and they have obligatory added fees. No flexibility for transfer students, not willing to give me extra time to finish tests unless I have certified disability. Insane for such a big institution that says they are welcoming to all students from other places. No flexibility in which courses I could take for my major considering I need to meet certain pre-requisites for grad school, did not let me change majors so I could meet these. When I registered classes I actually needed for grad school they said I would need to pay out of pocket despite being on military scholarship. Financial department was not helpful as they do not know until the last minute of your financials and push you to take loans. Disappointed that the financial aid department which should be able to tell you FINANCIALS was not able to. I also felt there was a miscommunication because if I had an issue I could not address it directly because it had to be passed down through various people to be able to help me. Considering how expensive this college is and how far I drove in order to meet for my classes I did not find it rewarding. My BIGGEST issue at troy was that the scheduling needs to be revised. Shorter classes more days a week should not be done for concentration courses but rather longer times and maybe 2-3 days to be able to FINISH testing and succeed in courses, my professors half of the time had to stop the class due to time and tell the whole class to look it up online which is an awful way to teach. In my case that I live so far I would of much rather driven less days a week but stayed to cover FULLY the material and succeed in courses. This forced me to change to another university and change my major. Hoped to graduate from here, sadly did not.
Troy University is a top university. We visited the campus after graduating over 30 years ago. Such fantastic improvements, especially in the music and fine arts. The football stadium is beautiful!
I played college basketball and we traveled to Troy State to play in your tourney in December 1969. I remember the beautiful, large Pecan trees that were in the campus. I remember throwing my duffel bag up where many pecans were visible. I collected at least 100. We did come from 8 points behind in the last two minutes and defeat TSU for the championship. We had a big banquet after the game. Two of our upperclassmen wanted to get back Springfield, Missouri to be with their wives, so we did not spend the night but instead drove all night. Are those big pecan trees still there?
I am a Troy U student, went to the campus for my wife's graduation (Masters in Social Work). School is beautiful. The surrounding, not so much.
Best University in Alabama and the South as well. Great class sizes beautiful campus and facilities.
Really nice clean campus and very well lit at night. What I like most is how both the basketball arena and football stadium are snuggled right in with the campus and are easy to find. I've been to college campuses where you needed a map to find the stadiums. I would have given a 5 star rating for my experience but the only thing that I don't like is the lack of parking that you have when you attend games....because of the lack parking you have to use folks home yards that live around the campus and they're charging $20 and up for parking, which is ridiculous.
Happiest years of my life were spent in Troy. I greatly love this school. The teachers were great, and the range of services were fantastic. The administration however was not and often found new and exciting ways to screw things up. Everything from losing my social security number to not properly implementing my scholarship so that book fees weren't covered. Still I love this place and recommend it highly.
Did some fire alarm work out on campus and the staff and maintenance guys were a pleasure to work with.
Beautiful and friendly campus!
This is a great school at a great price, and they do not pay me to say that. It is a good medium size, so you aren't getting lost in the mass of students like bigger universities, but you can still have opportunities to grow and succeed …
Went to watch a high school spring football game. Very clean and nice stadium. Will be going to catch a few of Troys' games this season.
Very pretty & accommodating campus. The new dorms and arena and football stadiums are fantastic! (They are new to me anyway). Troy State University, as it was known, is improving vastly! TWO THUMBS UP!
I was accepted to start in the Fall 2016 semester. Now I was a HUGE prospective student that had full intention to attend UAB, however, I was sold after I took a tour of their beautiful campus. Troy is very student-friendly to all students. …
Great school. You get out what you put in! Get involved and this is a special place to make great friendships that will last a lifetime. Only thing holding down this University is the city. The new Publix will be a great step in the right …
I loved my time at Troy University! It was a beautiful and safe campus with great diversity in the student body. The clubs and organizations were welcoming and always had a project going--which non-members were always welcome to …
This past weekend I had the great pleasure of staying on the beautiful Troy Campus for the weekend for the State Special Olympic Games. Your campus is so well maintained, free of trash, having wonderful flower beds, and constant security …
After reading some of the harsh reviews on here, I felt compelled to comment. I am a current student at Troy and have been here for about a year and a half. Due to my home location, I take most of my classes at the Troy Dothan campus, and …
The Loew’s Portifino Bay Hotel is not the place for a public pep rally. Other people don’t need to hear that and it’s inconsiderate of guests who are trying to enjoy a peaceful vacation. Completely blocked public access to walkways and stairs.
