I went there today to attend the #URKEYS2DRV Teen Driver Summit. This was supported by State Farm, Drive Safe Alabama, ASF Foundation, Safe Kids Alabama, Children's of Alabama, ALDOT, ABC Board, and more! There were so many wonderful groups there, and the event was absolutely incredible! Thank you so much to everyone invoked and a huge Thank You to Coastal Alabama Community College in Bay Minette for hosting sunch an amazing event for our soon to be and new to driving kids!

This is an excellent educational institution with a caring, student driven faculty. I met with the president today and he really impressed me.

I went here back in the early 1990s when it was known as “Faulkner State Community College”, mainly to save money. In all honesty, I didn’t have too good of an experience and regarded Faulkner as just a glorified high school but what made things worse was when I transferred to the University of South Alabama I lost a lot of credits, putting me back to being a freshman and delaying my graduating for almost a year! Well folks, I’m here to tell you in the 30 years since that happened absolutely nothing has changed about that place except the name. My daughter went to Coastal and is now finishing her nursing degree at South Alabama. 30 years is a long time for things to change…I figured Coastal would have gotten with the times and when you go to transfer EVERYTHING should transfer, especially in state. Like my situation back then she lost about a year’s worth of credits delaying her graduating by a year. That’s OK because there will not be a third time! My youngest daughter was thinking about going to Coastal but after what we experienced 30 years apart from one another, the brakes were slammed on that! She is now working on her degree at South Alabama where she doesn’t have to worry about losing credits. I should have heeded my mother’s advice when she told me a long time ago “fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me” and I have been kicking myself since. Aside from that, I was not surprised to learn other people had gone here, transferred to other colleges in state only to lose credits which calls in the question is Coastal really a community college or just a place where money gets laundered!? My advice to anyone, if you go to Coastal do so at your own risk! Aside from that, when my daughter went to have her credits transferred Coastal seemed like it was nothing but organized chaos leaving her highly frustrated because nobody over there in administration seemed to know what was going on. When you finally did talk to someone, they constantly dragged their feet And did not take into consideration, the time was taking and things needed to be done right away. That certainly isn’t the case at the University of South Alabama where when you call there you get an answer right away and not give a runaround Between me, and my oldest daughter, we have been successful in turning upwards of 15 people away from Coastal after they learned of our experience and will continue to share our story with future prospective students. Bottom line: Unless you have time to waste and money to burn avoid Coastal Alabama Community College like the plague or you’ll be sorry! 👎👎

Will never even take a class here again. If you let your student go here, your making a mistake. I have been going here for 2 years and I am in the middle of a lawsuit with over 5 civil charges against this institution. Not to mention they steal money. Helpful*- If they do anything unorthodox or force academic transgression on you, file a “Intentional infliction of Emotional Distress” Lawsuit.

You would think this school would lean towards the working class seeing how it's in a small town. Nope, they have the most random class hours like 9 am and 11 am two times a week, nobody could make these classes while working a normal job. No night or online classes, and very little range of class options. With the amount of classes they offer it will take you 4 years to finish a 2 year degree, good luck! PSC is a better option for those who actually have a job!

.Faulkner State Community College is a great School and Community College with University styles and activities to it and even dorms! Which I like most about it... The only down side to it... is that when you take online classes... blackboard seems to always have issues sometimes and teachers are sometimes hard to reach and faculty can sometimes be disorganized or even rude! And the main office needs a lot more workers due too long waits on a waiting sign in list just to answer even the simplest questions... My Friends who drove me to the bay minette campus from Montgomery lost me! And couldn't find where I was due to my phone being dead... they asked around to try to see where I went... asked the workers in the main office if they have seen me... they wouldn't even answer that until they "signed in first" made us very mad! But thankfully I was found.

Administration is horrible, getting students any assistance is a nightmare. Going to counselors or any others for assistance in picking classes or figuring out what to do next is absolutely useless. They have no desire to help and make that very apparent. They make everything a major headache. I received more help from USA pathways counselors dealing with Coastal/Faulkner than I did from Coastal/Faulkner itself. If you like beating your head against a brick wall then this is the school for you.

I've been going to Faulkner/Coastal Alabama since 2011 on and off when time and life permit it. I know that the Fairhope campus is horrible. The admins behind the desk don't really want to help. I transferred schools based off the fact that Coastal Fairhope hires unprofessional people. I'm sure that if I had recorded some of the incidents I've had up there someone would lose their job. Even though it's a community college, there should be some sort of standard of professionalism enforced. If someone comes in asking for help, why would you turn them away or tell them to seek help elsewhere. Isn't that what you're getting paid to do? The school has gone downhill since the change. I'd take my time and money and go elsewhere. You don't have put up with blatant disrespect in front of you peers for simply trying to better yourself. Somthing isn't right when students prefer to drive to Bay Minette from Fairhope instead of just asking for help at the campus in town. Personally, if I was so unhappy and disgruntled with my job that I felt like I had take it out on other people, I would just find a new job.
