Went to @deltacollegemountainhouse for their Enrollment day! I was welcomed by Candace Mcgee who kindly gave me all the information about the event. It's so awesome to learn about their Disabilities Support Programs and Services and well as their Calworks and Basic needs programs. I found out they have a financial aid representative here every Monday until 4pm and counseling available by appointment! I love that all of these services and more are right in our pocket. I spoke with Heidi Santino, the Resource Specialist, and she sent me up with information about Delta's Food Pantry. Dr. Pablo Ortega, the Dean of the campus was so welcoming and he made me feel right at home. Jessica Torres the Student programs specialist helped me find the Financial Aid representative on campus and I was able to get help right away! All of the student workers were insanely sweet and it's great to have support from my peers. I can't wait for Fall 2025 at the South Campus!
I'm an educator. Some people have a natural ability to be successful, others have generational wealth. Most of the rest of the population benefit greatly with further education. It's an investment of time to education for long term profit and better quality of life. Follow ypur dreams=goals, Professional counselors r there to help. I'm one of them. Bee Chacon
I have been taking classes here off and on for the last 22 years. I reached out a couple weeks ago and was told they had no idea when summer registration was but immediately called the Stockton location that was able to tell me. Today I called to get information I had previously been able locate from the course catalog and/or the document provided for transfer students that shows which Gen Ed courses count for what. I’m going blank on the name for the form, but I’ve obtained it numerous times in the past over the phone after a quick reminder on how to locate it from the website. Today however upon asking how to obtain this information I was told I could not do so without speaking to a counselor. This is incredibly strange to me so I called the Stockton location who not only walked me through where to find that information through the catalog AND the website but also walked me through where to locate that from my course plan. All this said I love San Joaquin Delta college but feel the mountain house location needs to work on ensuring those that answer the phones are competent and/or at least willing to help.
Yesenia Aldapa is a stellar counselor at Delta College! Her expertise and guidance were instrumental in crafting a solid degree plan for me, ensuring a smooth path to graduation. With a warm and helpful approach, she provided valuable recommendations for CSU choices, truly setting me up for success. Grateful for her assistance!
It's a good community college and is conveniently located for easy access. Although it doesn't offer wider choice of topics, it offers all the required "core" classes that all students need and require. The bottom line is it's cheaper than going to a college like, Notre Dame or Stanford. The cost savings along in the first two years is substantial and in the end, more money for the last two years in a noted school. The campus is clean, parking abundant, and rabbits all over the place..... Good place to learn.
I enjoy my time and studies here at delta. I am very happy with the housing development in the area and how beautiful it’s turning out.
Directions to get to Delta College were fine until the final few miles. It's an area of all-new construction in former agriculture fields, with lots of new houses and subdivisions being built. STREET SIGNS were hard to locate. The college is all just rows of portable (temporary?) structures that make it look more like a military barracks. Spring semester hadjust ended, so generous parking lots were empty .
A terrible experience and quite possibly my worst academic experience ever. The faculty is apathetic and their online organization is mangled. You will wait in line for information, financial aid assistance, and more for countless hours. My counselor also makes little effort into properly assisting me. Overall, I've wondered how different this institution is from something such as "Heald". Avoid and invest your time into a truly accredited college or university.
My advice to anyone beginning college is to go to the campus physically and not attempt to contact by phone or email. If you are serious about your education then you will take the time to visit in person. Not everything is done wireless. Delta has been similar if not friendlier in my college experience. Don't knock on the school because you are frustrated. You need to be on your stuff this isn't grade school anymore.
After wasting a great deal of time trying to get a hold of someone - I went online as well and filled out a form. Twice. That was two years ago. No one EVER contacted me. I got some online courses at Phoenix and in less time - got a degree and a great job. Thanks for nothing SJD.
