WARNING: This College will become a home away from home To start there is not much you cannot learn at Dalton State, from playing intramural sports to stay active,to being a member of a club or organization this college has it all. I was faced with the decision to travel far off or stay local at Dalton State and I am so happy that I made the right decision to go to Dalton State! I attended all 4 years here and had countless of experiences with staff, students, and faculty and they all were amazing. The people here really care! I have made friendships here that will last a lifetime! Get involved you get out of college what you put into it! The trails are gorgeous also, I have attached some photos of the views! A+++ 😎
Parents ..... do NOT waste your money or your child's financial aide at this JOKE of an institution of higher learning. The :online professors/ instructors are incompetent and could care less about your child's success...many of them outright ignore student's emails, grading integrity is non-existent, papers and quizzes often take over a week.to be graded and on more than one occasion, graded incorrectly, caught by my son and I.... This is UNACCEPTABLE! When mistakes are pointed out to them, they become rude or combative. One's excuse was..."I'm only human". These courses appear to be self taught... because there's no instruction other than giving an assignment. and with them taking so long to grade an assignment. the feed back is useless for the student to use to improve their learning experience. These professors/instructors can't even be bothered to even fill out the ADA accommodations form so students with disabilities such as Aspergers or Autism can get the services that they are entitled to by LAW. When we adressed the issue with admin., the Dean of Students and Disability sevices. It became crystal clear that they do not care about helping my son succeed and could not be bothered to even show up for a scheduled meeting, then gaslit us saying there must have been "miscommunication" on our part. The most unprofessional and incompetent department of admin. We keep getting passed around and nothing has been resolved. . Yet my son is still managing to maintain As with ZERO help.He had to drop his math class because the online instructor never answered any of his questions.. completely ignoring vital questions about an upcoming proctored test. This particular instructor is supposedly a "Doctor. We reahed out to another admin dept. that supposedly governs the conduct of the online course istructors... Followed her instructions of sending in a formal complaint and just like Dean of Students ....nothing is resolved...just galighting and buck pasing. ABSOLUTELY NO ONE AT THIS COLLEGE CARES ABOUT ACOMMODATING NEURODIVERGENT STUDENTS.... SHAME ON YOU DALTON STATE. My next step is to wage a formal coplaint with the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights. I am beyond done with this disgusting incompetency and blatant disregard of my son's needs and will not stop until accountability is acheived.
Dalton State College is nestled in the North Georgia mountain. Right off exit 333 in DALTON Georgia about 30 minutes south of Chattanooga and an hour north of Atlanta. Dan was also home on the floor covering capital of the world..
this school's financial aid was absolutely no help this year. there were numerous students who were having troubles with it, even though they did everything on their end, and all the got was "make sure you're checking your emails". They were completely useless and did not seem to care about helping students. Only a few people really tried, and no one seems to be empathetic about a single student's situation. This was supposed to be some people's HOME for 2/4/however many years. The staff, but specifically financial aid should feel ashamed for how they've handled so many student's cases this year.
I witnessed serious irregularities in one of the sports programs. In my opinion, scholarships were allegedly given to individuals with personal ties to a Brazilian coach, rather than based on merit or athletic performance. Based on what l observed, these decisions affected local athletes who were genuinely pursuing opportunities. When concerns were raised, the program was suddenly shut down with no transparency or accountability. Students and community members deserve better. Silence protects corruption. Institutions must uphold the values they preach.
I love this campus. It has a lot of different things to do and good classes. Good sports teams as well! I will be going there and I think it’s amazing
I would anticipate that with a tour to see all the buildings. Especially when the system is aware that I am an education major. The one building we didn't tour. I was told to set up a private tour. I am immensely disappointed and annoyed. This is the only school nearby that offers ESL certifications. This is my only day off for me to not be able to see the one aspect why I want to attend.
I have had the best experience at this school. I highly encourage anyone to go to this school. They truly care about your success.
Love the place, I imagine myself going there and graduating! Save me a spot when I'm finished with school.
As an Alumni, I feel very comfortable at the location. I am a little saddened about a few changes that I have noticed. There used to be smiling faces around the campus to make students, and families feel more secure. Now, it appears that the college has cut employees in favor of outsourcing particular jobs. This makes me consider other options for my children. A peaceful day of positive memories with a good environment, yet concerns about the future for others.
