My experience wasn't bad but it wasn't good either and if I had to choose which was more it would be bad. For me I was continuing my education and already had 1 degree from another school so I was already familiar with how the process works. Getting enrolled to start was horrible. Had to take a vacation day from work just to come sit at an unnecessary orientation just because it was policy. Was forced to "check a box". Complete waste of my time. Getting in touch with anyone on the phone in any office other than financial aid was nearly impossible and a few times had to drive down just to get answers to simple questions. The classes them selves were hit or miss. At the time I attended, the online classes were poorly structured and nearly everyone had near failing grades. The only good note I have is for the in person classes I took. Those were pretty good and the teachers were good people. There were some staff there that generally wanted to help but it's 50/50. Everything considered its probably a really good place for young students fresh out of high-school living on campus but if you're a working parent forget about it.
Thank you lord!! This day have finally came. My son is in college, he bust his but in high school and now things are about to pay off. This is a great school, I've done my research on this place and even though it's small, they have a big heart!! Today we still had to sign papers and everyone that we encountered was very friendly and helpful and I really appreciate that. My son will fit in, hell he has no choice, his old room is now my workout room! Gordon College is a great school, don't sleep on them.
Gordon is fantastic. It is beautiful and well cared for. The staff is really a bunch of sweet hearts, in my years here I have NEVER come across one that didn't feel like coming to work that day. They are never condescending and are always helpful. I think they are very choosy who they put in the offices like financial aid, business, registrars etc. I can't say enough good things about them, even when you feel like you are asking too much or being ignorant, they are pleasant. I love the classic college feel but apart from the big city, its perfect and unlike high school i have a ton of school pride!
I sat with professors and the students of Gordon State College for the New Student Orientation with my son. Although I am from Cambridge, MA where people from all over the world come to further their Education at Top Universities such Harvard, MIT, and Radcliffe. I pretty much grew up in Harvard as a child and teenager. What I experienced at Gordon College made me feel like a child again amongst our future World Leaders. Gordon State College, is a small campus filled with Exceptional Individuals whom truly care for all. Although it's not my son path to go into college. Gordon made me feel Like I am now ready to continue my education with them. As a returning Student/ Mama.. So since my son wants to explore life, I will now return to college.
Great school. The teachers and staff are awesome, and they’re always willing to help. As others have said before, parking is the only issue. The main parking lot requires walking up a steep hill. I’m not handicapped, but I have asthma and that hill kills me.
I attended Gordon State College one semester in the Spring of 2018. The class was an online class. It was interesting but the instructor was not available most of the semester. We thought there was a system issue because we didn’t hear from the instructor the first 3 days. We would ask questions in regards to the syllabus, assignments & exams and would not receive responses until afterward the due dates. The professor seemed to have too much on her plate. She was a part time instructor with other full time employment. The admission process was easy & Banner and the website was easy to navigate. I can’t speak on the financial aid process because I paid for the class out of pocket. I can say the nelnet payment plan was a breeze. I transferred the class back to Georgia Southern University to complete my Bachelors degree.
College is great, but their admissions, registrar and payment sections need much improvement. Our son is enrolled and every semester, not one notification of payments, so Gordon drops all his classes. Oh wait, they can notify when they drop classes but not payment issues. They also drop classes one day before starting semester and that adds to our child's frustration!
The staff at Gordon State are amazing. If they can't answer your question they find the answer for you. Campus is beautiful. Lots of food places on campus and so much to choose from! Me an my friends eat in the SARC because Caroline is always smiling and makes me laugh when I go get food there. She treat everybody like they special and she happy to see them. Bookstore people are nice and it always clean and neat. Kinda pricey sometime but good, cool things there. If I was younger I would live there on campus cuz its like a whole city.
It's impossible to get to class early or even on time if you are a commuter. As for some reason a train cuts the town in half almost every morning for about 25-35 minutes. Gordon has good professors, but the frustration of getting to class is to much. Do not attend this school as a commuter. I just said screw it and turned my car around and went home after 30 minutes of sitting there.
WOW...my son received a baseball offer from 2 schools in Alabama, but we went to Gordon for a baseball camp and we fell I love with the campus the people in Admission, Financial Aid everyone was so nice and HELPFUL. My son decided to he wanted to go to GSC.... I couldn't be happier... As for baseball he will try to make the team as a walk- on...... Awesome place GSC👍👍👍
