Ms. Amber in the Hospitality program is probably the best professor I’ve ever had. She not only shows she cares by walking through class schedules and helping set up semesters, but by taking time to see how I learn and helping to tailor my learning to it. She makes class engaging and enjoyable with activities and discussions that are relevant and meaningful to the lesson. When I say I haven’t had a teacher like this before I really haven’t. She goes above and beyond to be the best teacher she can be and it shows. The hospitality program is structured well and flows at a smooth pace. I haven’t felt overwhelmed with the work load because she pairs each lesson with one or two assignments that help you to comprehend what you just learned. The projects are not to daunting with check points to make sure you don’t fall behind. We also have an excellent mentorship program where we are paired with a hospitality professional to help refine our skills. Overall I would not have stayed in college if it weren’t for the amazing support I’ve received from all staff especially Ms. Amber.
I wish I had went to any other college in Georgia. The computer science programs are outsourced through third parties that anyone could sign up for on their own. I had to basically pay WGT to act as a middle man to copy and paste the grades I earned through another party that also required payments to participate. It felt like a massive scam. And the fire science courses were a complete joke. I switched out of the program halfway through because of the “mini-mesters” they started piling on to push people through the program at lightning speed. But really it was for WGT to collect payments at lightning speeds. Again I wish I went anywhere else since they were transitioning to basically an online type of college. University of Phoenix is far more reputable at that point.
Just graduated today from trucking school & West Georgia Tech is one of the best schools. Mr. Hodge Mr. Leroy Mr. Bruce. Was very outspoken & outstanding thank you for all you do on my last day I was able to fly with the airbrakes test. Very great school to go to pursue your cdl. For everything you have to do for work & job security.
I returned for the Spring semester after 5 years and I have to say I am not pleased this go around. Even though all my information was turned in before deadline, my funds were released late because no one in the FA office knew how to release them. After speaking with the director twice it was taken care of (2 weeks into class). I have had to basically coach everyone through how to handle my courses (which classes can be credited for others/ which classes I need to take) because I do not have an advisor. I was just contacted to be assigned an advisor via email but its a little too late since I am 66% complete with my degree. The staff must be over worked and under paid because they are rude and make you feel like you are a bother. I really feel bad for students that truly need advisement to succeed because you definitely don't get it here. I am actually withdrawing to transfer to another institution. I hope they can get the staff back on track, this use to be a really good school. :( ***This post is strictly about advisors / admissions / FA office, my class experience has been wonderful and fulfilling. ***)
Worst financial aid department I’ve ever dealt with. Not just a one time thing. I’ve been going here off and on for almost ten years. Email is the only form of communication that they actually respond to. When they do reply, often their response is quite rude, especially if you do not understand their explanation and email them back stating so. Terrible customer service.
It's a wonderful school to go to I've learned alot and made a lot new friends there
Beware, of Jennifer Jiles -Davis she will set you up to fail.
Decent college. Not too good not too bad. Classes are only as good as the professors are.
Its pretty cool and Thinc career and college center is here too
