I had issues with my dorm light not being able to turn off and not only was staff not helpful but I watched Nadia watch a Netflix show instead of trying to find a solution after 20 plus minutes

Amazing University! The professors and staff are very down to earth and extremely knowledgeable. Great programs available for the students, the campus is the perfect size and very safe. The dorms are awesome, nice and spacious and they have great food in the dining areas. Love the feel of some of the buildings, such beautiful architecture. The community is very friendly too. Highly recommend WIU!

I'm an alumni of Western Illinois University. I graduated in December 1997. I received a Bachelor of Science in Geography (Meteorology). My experience at the university was from 1995-1997 and it was wonderful. My degree has provided me wonderful chapters in my careers. I'm very happy about my decision to educate at this place.

I got my first bachelors here in 2010 on scholarship and it was the best choice I've ever made. I found amazing friends and top-notch professors who weren't in it for the paycheck. I went on to pursue other things and a few years later decided to get my MA in music therapy, so I went to another school (since WIU didn't have a MA at the time). The education style was totally different and was a *terrible* decision but I grew from it and in the end decided to go back to WESTERN to get a 2nd bachelors in the field I wanted and ended up getting a MUCH better education and 1:1 instruction/supervision. You can learn the hard way and waste thousands of dollars-or you can just go to Western.

My fiancé and I go here, and we’re transferring out after this semester. The professors do not care about anyone and he was told last semester by a professor that since that professor was losing his job no one in the class should expect an A. This school jerks with your classes and if you go here you should keep in mind you might not graduate here due to them cutting every teacher and not replacing them since they’re in such a financial hole. The university does not feel as though it is one and seems more like a terrible highschool to me. Their enrollment is down and continues to plummet, for good reason. Also, no one will work with you and getting things done is almost impossible. I could go on and on, but then I would end up writing a book. Just please note, if you choose to go here, it’ll be the worst decision of your life. Also, if you are told they’re top 10 in law enforcement, know that they’re false advertising and that’s not true. I beg future students to do their research on this school before putting their future at risk. I wish I would have, other than trusting the falseness this university provided.

There are so many fights on campus. There is a hatred for any student who wants to become an officer there. You are a target. The dorms are not monitored well at all. Weed is all you smell. Very racially divided as well. A little alarming on the daily.

Good state school. In the middle of nowhere butmaybe thats a good thing too. When u send em off theres not terribly much to get into an excessive amount of trouble but eniugh "student lifestyle" to keep em interested in being there. Great program for Police Officer candidates and ROTC etc. Overall good value for dollars spent and kids like the campus and facilities well enough. Go visit, its a nice school. 🐸

Absolutely worthless institution from start to finish. Expirienced incredible homophobia while attending and now the billing and receivables department refuses to lift a single finger and complete a single task. Noone wants to do their jobs and they take advantage of every student they get the opporitunity to.
