I had a very negative experience in this class with Professor Matthew Falk. I communicated upfront about using AI tools for writing support, but was later penalized without any opportunity for clarification. The professor made assumptions about my intent and shut down the conversation rather than offering guidance or support. It felt unfair and discouraging, especially for a student who was trying to be proactive. Would not recommend this instructor if you're looking for an open or constructive learning environment.

I am a current student, and I can confidently say that this university is declining in both academic quality and institutional focus. Leadership and staff appear more invested in self-promotion and distributing politically charged messaging than in supporting the academic and professional advancement of their students. Unfortunately, this shift in priorities has become increasingly visible across various departments. Poor communication has become a persistent issue. Emails go unanswered for weeks, and students are often left in the dark about course updates, deadlines, and policy changes. When responses do come, they are often vague or dismissive, leaving students feeling unheard and unsupported. This unresponsiveness is not only frustrating but also deeply discouraging, especially for those of us balancing work, family, and graduate-level coursework. Classroom environments have also suffered from a lack of strategic planning and engagement. Courses are frequently reorganized mid-semester with little notice, leaving students scrambling to adapt to new formats, assignments, and platforms. These chaotic shifts reflect a troubling lack of foresight and consideration for the learning experience. If you are a working professional seeking a structured, student-focused academic experience that respects your time, effort, and investment, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. The university needs to urgently realign its priorities and refocus on the needs of its tuition-paying students, the very individuals who sustain its operations.

I love everything about this university, from the advisor to my professor and also the staff in the various offices such as financial aid, registration they all help to make my time at this university very pleasant.

I transferred here after finishing at CCBC, that transition went smooth for the most part. I liked my time here and I graduated. The location is good, right at midtown. Its not all the way into the city which made the drive less intense as a student that commuted. The class sizes were small to medium, not very large which I liked. Evening classes worked well with my full time work schedule. Most of the professors I had were great and also like how they offer career search assistance and workshops both as a student and alumni so some of the services dont stop because you no longer go to that school. The new library looks nice. By the time they redone that building I already graduated so not sure how nice it is inside but from the outside it looks great.

I am very disappointed with the overall experience here. The advisors can schedule appointments and be a no-show and the administration makes excuses for them. The truth of the matter is they honestly really don't care about your academics, your work or in fact YOU. It really is a persona this administration puts on. Someone wrote a review stating the school is good for you as long as you are doing well and that you are doing your part......thats pretty much any college you attend to AND that has given UB room to not be accountable for their tardiness, lack of engagement and no show gimmicks these people do. All of the advisors assigned to me have been horrible and dismissive. Instructors as well save 1 instructor I had to review as outstanding. A complete waste of my money and debt. It is also no place for a born again beliver in Christ as this school is completely anti-christ and you are HATED and accused of being hateful because of the truth. Heaven and earth will pass away but Jesus words will never pass away and I say that out of love. But UB should be ashamed for misrepresenting how engaged they really are.

The Professors are great!! The administration, not so great. I don’t not understand why it is so hard for them to just do their job. I have to literally follow up everyday in person (I’m a online student), just for them to process anything. Then, they have the audacity to have an attitude as if I have done something wrong. This has not made for a great experience. I want to finish here so bad, but I’m transferring. It’s stressful!

I really love this school. I am happy and grateful for the opportunity that I was given to become a student. Loads of opportunities, attentive professors, helpful course-mates, what more can I ask for? Also super good for law, business and game design!

I received my Master's degree from UB, graduating in August of 2017. After going to undergrad at a university in PA, I can honestly say that my UB experience was much better. The professors were top-notch and actually made themselves available to students. Not only did they help me with my coursework, but they actually took the time to talk about career advice, job searching, and networking. None of this I received back in PA mind you. UB offered many things to do as well, from lectures, guest speakers, and volunteer opportunities. I would go back to this school in a heartbeat. Thank you to all the hardworking professors in the School of Health and Human Services for making my time at UB so memorable.

Every step of the admissions process has been awful! The timelines that they give are not followed by the staff. My husband did not get his official acceptance letter until the Friday before classes started. His adviser was not helpful when he needed to get into classes and financial aid still hasn't processed his financial aid and classes started over a month ago. They are all very unprofessional and it seems they don't understand or appreciate the adult students who work full time. CCBC was much more efficient. This University should be ashamed.

Being a woman of color at UB has been a great experience for me. The professor are great, if you are not a slacker. They are willing to help if you first help yourself, but that is most situations in life.
