I am very disappointed with how this college handles financial aid. Students are supposed to receive their aid a week before classes begin, but instead we now have to wait until after we’ve already been in class for two weeks. This is the second time the school has done this. Many of us rely on financial aid to cover bills, rent, food, and basic living expenses. Delaying these disbursements puts unnecessary stress on students who are just trying to focus on their education. It feels like the school is playing with our money, and it shows a lack of respect for students and their needs. This situation is unacceptable, and unless changes are made, I cannot rate this school any higher than 1 star.

I had a bad experience with this school and it resulted in me not wanting to continue. I don't feel like it's worth the money that I paid. Unresponsive student government who were never at their stations whenever I showed up to pick up the ID that I paid for. I received emails for months telling me that my financial aid was about to be canceled if I didn't send in my transcripts, and after I resolved the issue I continued to receive these emails throughout the semester and they said it was a glitch. I contacted, made appointments with, and worked with multiple different departments for help with class selection and still was given the wrong answer, resulting in more money out of my pocket and nothing to show for it. Maybe it's a sign from God before I wasted much more money. The only good thing that came out of this was their affordable living agreement with NSU. I did meet some staff that truly wanted to be helpful. But this really turned me off from this school.

My youngest daughter is enrolled here and is going to be a dentist when she graduates.

CSN is a joke. I had put a course I was looking at taking in the cart but did not proceed to go through with it. Fast forward to September of 2023 where I get a bill from CSN for one online course for around $300. Not once did I know they had finalized me into that class. Never received any emails or phone calls regarding this class so I received an F for a class that I didn’t even know my login to the CSN email or to take that course! Tried to dispute but since I don’t have any “proof”, it was denied and sent me to collections. Not sure how to give proof of something that I never received any notification about a class. Now I’m out a few hundred dollars for a class I didn’t even take.

This place completely screwed me over. I'm from California and I started college out there. Came to Nevada to be with family and wanted to continue my education. I enrolled in my first semester and got set up with financial aid. I thought all was good until I went to buy books and they said i couldn't use my financial aid for the books. I would have to pay out of pocket and be reimbursed later... In California, financial aid does not work this way and this absolutely baffled me. I don't get help from family as my family is poor. I work to try to help pay theirs and my own bills. I cannot just afford $800+ worth of books without notice. So I dropped out of the semester with W's. I received no financial aid, but I had been approved for it. Somehow, despite not having received any financial aid, I now OWE them what I got approved for...??? I couldn't even afford my books so of course I couldn't afford to pay a couple thousand in financial aid that I never received. So naturally, the school sent it to collections and it is now ruining my credit. No education, no financial aid. Just debt.

The campus is pretty nice and some of the people in the registrar office and financial aid were friendly and helpful. The bad thing that made me really dislike there offices was the financial aid process, I finished my paper work and then they told me it would take 2 to 4 weeks for them to scan my paperwork and then give me my aid. It was awful, I have attended two other community colleges and they had my paperwork done within a week or less. I almost couldn't keep my classes because not only were they making me wait to do something simple but they didn't even try to find a way to help me keep my classes. Basically in short there offices are awful when it comes to getting things done, but the campus and my teachers so far are good.

I applied here and got accepted. I had to apply for a private student loan only for them to tell me it takes 6 weeks to process the paperwork. I said screw it and went to UNLV and it only took them 5 days to process my financial aid and residency paperwork. Do better CSN!!!

Trying to take classes at csn so that I can finish my degree at Nsc. Enrolling has been a nightmare, I have been trying to sign up for classes for 3 weeks. Was told I have a hold on my account at Nsc, called Nsc and they told me there are no holds and that csn has a default in their system that causes phantom holds on classes for upcoming semesters (which i have at Nsc). I called csn who called nsc and verified that I did not have any past due holds and csn said the hold on my account would be lifted within 2-3 business days. Waited, and low and behold, the hold is still there. I called csn back and was given attitude while trying to explain what happened. They said there's no fault in their system and I owe a balance at Nsc, which I do not as the semester hasn't even started and financial aid hasn't been disbursed yet. Went to Nsc, who temporarily removed the financial aid status from my account, went home and tried adding the classes to my cart. Turns out I couldn't as my transcripts from Nsc (which are available through my csn portal) were not evaluated for transfer yet. I am beyond livid with the incompetence of csn. If I didn't need these classes to finish my degree, I would never go here.

This place is terrible. I tried to attend school here, but the staff couldn't even figure out how to create an account for me. Terrible place with a terrible staff. I'm sitting here trying to give up thousands of dollars to these guys, and they can't even help me set up an account. Just go to a different school, there IT help center can barley even speak English. You're waisting money here.

This is a small College campus, which has more of a "Private College" feel to it. There are only three buildings where courses can be taken, which lead to a less confusing time negotiating campus directions. They have a huge cactus and desert landscape garden that hosts a variety of our native Southern Nevada landscape. They have a small cafe located in the C Building and Bookstore located in the A Building. Professional staff are very knowledgeable and very capable of helping students out regarding any scenarios. Most negative reviews by previous or current students spawn from the fact that many of these very students are neglecting to read vital information regarding college processes. It is ultimately the student's responsibility to inform themselves of policy regarding what they have to do as students; many of them simply wont take responsibility and take it out on us, as it very easy to do so for them. If you are a student, then I would highly recommend getting in touch with your program specific counselor or an academic advisor. They'll help you navigate the complex world of College and inform you of any pertinent information regarding yourself as a student. If you have questions regarding Financial Aid, paying for courses, getting a refund, selecting courses to take, choosing a major and/or declaring your degree, transferring to another institution, etc; please don't hesitate stopping by the B Building, Student Services Area to ask questions. We're all here for the students and genuinely care about their success in College.
