Great medium sized school. People are all really friendly. The apartment style dorms are amazing. Tons of history around the area. Will be here again.
I had the pleasure of going to Shawnee State University yesterday for Allied health day and again today for Shawnee Showcase day, and I must say, I'm impressed. As affordable as it is, I wouldn't expect it to be that good, but wow. The programs are really great, and I've never met such nice people. The professors and faculty are welcoming and helpful, and the students acted like they actually liked having us there. So much bang for your buck, I think everyone should consider Shawnee! And the dorms aren't even dorms, they're full on apartments, and the food is good. Kitchen staff are sweet. Gracious scholarships and free tuition. I would 100% recommend and I can't wait to start the med lab tech program and biology bachelor's program. Oh yeah, and giant outdoor chess boards. As a nationally renowned chess player, that's an excellent touch for me. My whole family loves this place and is excited for me to go to college now. Go bears! 🐻
Removed with no explanation other than receiving more loan money than they were supposed to give, an error on the University's part, not to mention if your opinion differs of that from other students and they become hostile the HR will do nothing for you as a student, class times are not flexible and they have put a hold on my transfer credits without explanation. In other words the communication from this university is terrible and would highly suggest against going if you have other options because anywhere that will not drop you in a moment's notice is better than this university.
Has one of the best girl basketball programs in the country in NAIA1.The girls team is currently ranked #4 in the country. The men's basketball team is stirring it up now with their new head basketball coach. Shawnee State University Bears #1 Portsmouth, Ohio
First off, the campus itself is in poor condition. The sidwalks are cracked, and the stairs are worn and a tripping hazard. If you are physically disabled, be warned, there is hardly no disabled access aroud campus. The elevators are used by those who are athletic and can walk perfectly fine, but crowd out those in wheelchairs.... There are professors who are either unfair in grading or don't know what they're doing.
I really like going to Shawnee very relaxed atmosphere. The advisers are always willing to help you and explain any concern. The professors are always willing to help in anyway they can.Shawnee has a great library staff.Just a great college.
Didn't have a safe campus I got followed home by men so did other girls. I wanted to leave after the first semester because my grandmother was dying and they said it wasn't a good enough reason for me to leave and not finish the year and made me pay for a semester I didn't take. Lots of drugs here, two people got shot on the street behind are dorms. It is not safe to live here.
This schools has a great community. The school is in a rural area without many things to do though the Shawnee makes up for it by fostering years of super geeky, friendly, and ambitious students.
Although the price has risen from $10 to $25 for a teeth cleaning; it's still cheaper than a real dentist. They also do a great job, and a professor makes sure it is done correctly.
The entry-level, pre-owned Toyota Tercel of higher educations. Reliable, no-frills conveyance to a better career, but in no sense is it a Lexus or BMW. That's not a knock, it's just the plain truth of it. And in times like these we should all recognize the appeal of inexpensive, austere educations and vehicles.
