I recieved my Master's in Art From NYU's Steinhardt School. Some the best years of my life were spent here. I met a lot of very influencial artists and classmates I still know. In Downtown Manhattan Steinhardt is where you will grow. You will experience education at it's greatest. All while, going to school in the heart of NYC.
I did NYU Tisch "Emerging Artist" Summer programs in high school, then applied to NYU (both to Gallatin & Tisch) as an undergraduate (but went to a small LAC up in New England instead), then applied again to Tisch a second time as a Graduate student (but went to Yale instead) & then a third time to Steinhardt for post-grad study and that's when I finally attended NYU. I enjoyed Steinhardt, but honestly for me, NYU wasn't the: "end all, be all" choice that it is for a lot of people.
Maybe if they spent less time advertising on social media / showing up higher on Google search results, and more time getting their act together and not feeding students the wrong information, they’d actually live up to the NYU name that once meant something. Please send your kids anywhere else but here, especially if you’re taking an online masters. There are far better programs from schools that actually care to have their act together, and give you an equally prestigious credential for your future.
Don’t fall for the marketing, the advertising on social media, nor the once-prestigious NYU name. Aspects of the student experience isn’t even handled by actual nyu employees (contractors) and then the parts that are, are overseen by unresponsive, careless staff who give different information depending on the day of the week. Not a single employee who can give consistent information from one person to the next, and one minute to the next. How has an NYU program gotten this bad?
From the moment I was accepted to a few months later, it’s been nothing but miscommunication, incorrect information, and confirming false details left and right. Name any kind of detail, and they’ve gotten it wrong. Name any kind of procedural, logistical, student experience piece, and there’s conflicting information. The “right hand doesn’t talk to the left” saying doesn’t even begin to describe how dysfunctional this place already is, and classes haven’t even started. When you’re about to go into $120,000+ debt for the rest of your life you’d at least expect the “student success advisor” not to demean you at every turn, or for at least one person to confirm details that are actually true. If you’re considering applying here, go absolutely anywhere else and spare yourself the unbelievably unnecessary headaches and stress. Save your time and energy for the actual schoolwork — not a school that can’t get a single detail correct.
I lost my wallet Wednesday while cycling to or from work. I stressed for a minute, only had time to cancel Credit Cards and got over it. Tonight I get home and a package arrives in the mail from an anonymous stranger with a note, "Hi Irving, I found your wallet on Wednesday night near Madison Square Garden. I hope losing it didn't cause too much stress." Everything, including cash, metro cards, gift cards, Drivers License, credit cards, etc., were intact, just as I had placed them in my new Prada wallet, a gift from my dear friend #KenPilska. Thank you anonymous stranger who mailed the package from #NYUDepartmentofHumanitiesAndTheSocialSciencesin theProfession. I LOVE NY and NYU Steinhart!
Great classical and Musical Theatre Program. I saw a play at the Frederick Loewe Theatre a fews ago, It was a broadway production, Amazing!
A vibrant undergraduate and graduate school with programs in education, the health professions, the arts, and media studies.
