My daughter attended for a year and a half. She went in with a learning disability that is well documented. The school new. She started asking for tutoring and additional aids be set up on week 1. She didn't get help until year 2 of school. I also emailed and called trying to get her support set up. She has since been removed from the school due to her disabilities and corresponding grades but they still expect us to pay back the over $60,000 for an education that she didn't complete. She wanted to do well and they did not put into place the extra help she needed. In comparison in HS she was in all honors classes and the top of everything. She even was given an award in Engineering. A little bit of support goes a long way and Shippensburg provided none.
Very impressed with how well the building interiors are maintained. Fresh paint was everywhere and floors were spotless. Outside the lawns and landscaping in general were meticulously done. Financial Aid and Admissions personnel are top notch professionals.
Looks like a nice big campus as we was only there to set up for a event in the one building for a play or something as its been my 2nd time there to set up , pipe and drapes for it and a few small tables
The professors here are pretty bad especially the ones with tenure! The atmosphere is bad and their student run clubs are a joke they only do them to build resumes so they don't take them seriously. The campus is dreary and people are not friendly. The only good aspect of Shippensburg is that off campus housing is cheap and the food is okay. Stay away from the dinning halls though but all of the other options are not bad. Their rec center is a joke everything is shoved into a tiny corner.
Some of the best people I've ever known I met in this place. It fosters a genuine and welcoming culture to all newcomers and even people just visiting. The people here are really one of the best parts. I got a great education from this place and adored my professors. Played field hockey there for 4 years and graduated with the biggest family of sisters. Can't say enough good things about it!
Great sports complex. Professional Coach at Combine.
Beautiful campus, great school, at an affordable price for in-state residents, in a nice small college town. Off campus housing is nearby with walking distance. My only gripe is if alumni move out of state, their children cannot get in-state tuition. I tell them this every time they call and ask for alumni contributions, but the PA state just doesn't seem to get it, or they never get the message. An alumni can donate thousands to their PA alma mater, and then when it is time for their children to attend college, there is still no discount for their children to attend. PA state should seriously consider a change.
Very good education for an affordable price. A majority of the professors are very knowledgeable in their field and can teach you a lot. The gen eds can be brutal which is why I give 4 stars instead of 5, but this is an amazing institution. If you are looking to go into the education field, the professors are great and they have a lab school which helps earn observation hours. The Human Communication Studies field is amazing as well! You learn a lot and if you do the work and put forth the effort, the professors will help you learn concepts when you are having trouble. Don't just expect to show up to class, not do the work, and still get an "A". You will learn tons of great things and have a fantastic time with the various programs offered by the Activities Board, just do the work that's asked of you and you will have a great time at this University!
As a graduate of 1989, I will say my Alma Mater has only become better with age. A beautiful campus, renovated and new buildings have made the university more of a gem. I had some great years I will always treasure at Ship. Wow, almost 30 years ago I started my education there...where did the time go?!!
Shippensburg truly brings a new meaning to the word community. Everyone is extremely helpful and I have had some amazing experiences at ship. I graduated in May 2014 and have to say it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Ship is it!!
