Commonwealth University - Bloomsburg

Overview

Commonwealth University - Bloomsburg (formerly known as Bloomsburg University) is a campus of Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania. Bloomsburg, Lock Haven and Mansfield universities have joined forces to boldly transform higher education in our region - and beyond. Bloomsburg was founded on the belief that opportunity is created by the people who are determined to achieve more. Our students know what hard work is, and appreciate what comes from working smarter, academically and otherwise. Everyone’s here to make their lives better, so they can inspire and lift up the lives around them. We’re never afraid of the path ahead and we’re always ready to pull together. It’s one reason we’re called the Huskies.

Jewish parents don’t send your kids to this school. A hockey player who allegedly no longer plays for their team harasses Jewish accounts on social media. I brought it to the attention of the hockey team whose response was this individual has a Jewish last name. The students name is clearly German and there’s cross in his profile. I find this disturbing and quite honestly a terrible way to handle the situation. Pick a better university.

Being shy of 5 stars, the student's are "clicky"; Too many signs promoting behavior that takes place. NOT a diverse culture of students; Many from PA, and have roots, "families and friends the student body have grown into, and up with. The academic team are wonderful, that know how to make each class coincide with each other. (Showing the importance of data analysis population vs. sample learning abilities and learning skills. The multiple choice testing method is used for general education classes. Expect this to be very overwhelming! Especially if you're an older adult who is new to the college scene. *IMPORTANCE* IF YOU'RE AN OLDER/NON TRADITIONAL STUDENT OR OUT OF STATE; FIND AN APARTMENT OFF CAMPUS! Do this for a piece of mind, and the ability to make like-minded/age related friends. A great overall experience with a college campus.

My daughter started what they call "Jump Start" A program for freshmen to get acquainted with college life two weeks ahead before classes start. Everybody was helpful and the protocol for what to do and where to go was easy to follow! Great job welcoming the newbies! 😊😊😊 …

First college visit with my HS Junior, campus is beautiful, not too big and not too small. Student tour guides we're wonderful, very knowledgeable and answered every question thrown at them. Definitely recommend checking Bloomsburg out

Lovely central campus. The "integration" with Lock Haven and Mansfield and the continuing underfunding of the PASSHE system are having a devastating effect on the quality of the academic programs at all three campuses. Faculty morale is at an all-time low, and current management doesn't seem to know how to supervise a quality university.

They participate in parking scams. The student lot has nothing about guests needing a parking pass anywhere but they’re so quick to throw a petty fine and their reasoning is that all parking information can be found on their website? Shady.

My experience on this campus was good until my daughter and I spoke to an advisor. We had a wonderful tour and the campus is very beautiful, not a lot of diversity but the students were all nice. We were about to leave but my dad wanted to talk to an advisor about the nursing program that she was interested in. The lady was so rude and told my daughter that if she does not get into the program in her freshman year that her chances are slim to none so don’t bother to try to apply for the nursing program. As an educator I am very disappointed that the students come to such a horrible advisor. I did say to her she is very discouraging and she snarled that she is. Needless to say we have crossed this school off our list.
