I walked in a week to student services before the fall semester started and everyone was very nice and helpful! The advisor was extremely helpful in reviewing my transcript, financial aid was great at helping me as well. I did have to call the billing office and waited on hold for a bit but that’s understandable so close to the start of the semester. I hope the professors are as great as the administrative staff was!
Every time I speak to a representative here, they are always extremely rude. Today I called and tried to have someone help me apply for a class and she kept interrupting me or “correcting “ me saying “REGISTER, you mean REGISTER”. She was ill-mannered, and refused to help me continue my education. I can definitely tell ACC does not care about their students’ future.
As someone who is attended public university, private university, a community college in another city and this community college, ACC is an amazing school. If you are lucky enough to be in district you can get very affordable college education in a variety of amazing topics and subjects. I have found myself in art school there in my 40s and it's just been great.
Horrible ,horrible community college. The communication and information is ALWAYS a mess online or in person. Several departments have given me conflicting advice on when to come in throughout several semesters and they always seem to never have their pieces together. I was even told several times that I was out of district only to later find out by the third person I talked to I wasn’t. I was told twice to come in to see an advisor by walk in and the past two times I’ve come in they have acted like I’m a burden and have told me you know you’re going to have to wait right? Like I didn’t know that already… I’ve been to two different community colleges and this is by far the worst one. It’s very difficult to get in contact with an advisor even by email and the help desk can only do so much when or if they can. Financial aid is a mess as well. I’ve had to see them several times to clear things up that they’ve messed up on their end and the last time I met with someone at financial aid they were distracted and laughing at several things going on behind me. I was already so frustrated by the amount of times I’ve had to come in I told him “is there anyway we can do this somewhere else that’s quiet? This is really important to me.” That’s because I already had told him all of my issues I was experiencing coming in back and forth. DO NOT REGISTER HERE. If you have the option to go somewhere else please do so. This college has been a nightmare with communication and information. Like an earlier review stated, I’ve never been to a college where they misinform their students so much and make it difficult for their students to be successful. *UPDATE* I was just informed for the 4th time that I actually am OUT OF DISTRICT, and no longer in district somehow once again. Was informed this last semester when I signed up for winter 24’, mind you this is my third semester here at Hays ACC and I’ve never moved…The staff is a joke!
I went too late to make it to an appointment. The woman knows who I am ,because I was referred, so I left a message with the receptionist and e-mailed. I used the learning lab upstairs. It was a nice atmosphere and the staff were helpful and considerate. Later, I met my mom to find food. We only found a lounge with machines. I just got a hot chocolate. A nice police woman helped us. That was on a Friday.
Decent campus. Most things are new here. Main complaint is the toilets! They're eco friendly low water usage and never clear the bowl. Nearly every single restroom stinks and has stuff still in it no matter how many times you try to flush it. It's really gross. Parking is further out from the building vs being against the building. No smoking at all. All cc I've been to before had a smoking area and that's usually where I made friends and studied, not here though. Overall decent enough to get basics out of the way
Never have I been to a college that actively works so hard to screw over their own students. From administration to financial aid to the actual professors. ACC has done everything in their power to make my success as a student -- not possible. They lie, misinform, cheat to get their stats up at the students expense. Everyone working here are either family or good friends. They don't hire people from outside this circle. And its affecting the quality that students ultimately pay for. I will need to file former complaints to the department of education. Shame on ACC.
Nice, chill and clean campus. Professors and curriculum are excellent. This is a great place to use veteran benefits. I’d recommend this campus to anyone considering it!
Angela who is an advisor and Sandra who is a senior assistant in financial aid were a huge help. I never felt rushed or embarrassed to ask questions if I needed to. Other ACC campuses that I've been to the staff was not friendly and I felt pressured to get out of there. They were both extremely helpful and I couldn't thank them enough. I live right by the South Austin ACC location and rather drive to Kyle for the staff and professors :) Keep up the smiling faces ladies.
I would reverberate that the Admissions department is atrocious to work with. They have made every step of the way extremely difficult no matter how much I tried to jump through hoops to appease their rules. Their supervisor is so incredibly difficult to work with. Instead of assisting student with solving their administrative problems it honestly felt like she enjoyed telling people that they were out of luck and there was nothing she could do (even though after much pleading something was able to be done). I was unable to register for my classes, due partly to erroneous information given by one of their counselors. The clerks were sympathetic to my plight and were more than willing to help me find a solution to my problem, and then she took over and the power trip came out. I have attended many schools throughout my military career and I have to say this administration department (mainly the supervisor) has been, hands down, the most unpleasant to deal with. I felt belittled the whole time, again, for a problem that wasn't even solely my fault. My suggestion: Find someone whose primary career goal is to WANT to help students fulfill their dreams of completing college not someone who wants to flex their position.
