Parking is and always has been a complete joke. The school has spent thousands adding more buildings and programs, but you have to arrive an hour early to class if you want to park anywhere near your building. Finding a staff member who is willing to do their job is hard, let alone someone who does it well. I had to talk to three different people just to find any record of my graduation, when I had walked at graduation 3 months prior. Regarding teachers, some are amazing are and genuinely invested in their students success, while others are just there for the pay and talk down to students for not knowing everything in their field on day two of class. I highly recommend checking rate your professor before registering for any classes, and as other reviews mentioned you HAVE to register the morning that classes open, preferably within the first hour to get the classes you want.
Seeing the passionate staff at Columbia Basin College support their students with meaningful opportunities was truly inspiring. We enjoyed connecting with students, staff, and other incredible businesses. Thank you, Columbia Basin College, for creating such a fantastic event! We look forward to working with you again in the future. Go Thunder! 🦅
I don't go to school here, but my community bike shop is located on the CBC campus. The teachers I know are really cool, and the school seems nice. It's big too.
Great outdoor movie night for everyone last night. I really like that they had a family movie so students can share their college experience with their kids. What a great example for kids to see that is never too late to get an education. Thank you CBC for including our families and the community in the school activities.
First college ive attended and I'm happy to say the helpful teachers and free resources for students make the switch from high school easier. Great areas for studying and lots of computers in the library, extremely clean and modern bathrooms, and beautiful art all and nature all around the campus.
After transferring from Yvcc I really loved how Columbia basin actually cares about there students and sets you up for success I graduated finally thanks to this amazing staff definitely recommend it they have an amazing support system and lounge.
Professor Emily did a great job with their presentation about the possible biology of super earth.
Really great automotive program instructors. Instructor Getty has brought life back into the program and has improved the learning experience and implemented new learning for the better. As a student about to graduate the program I can say the program is in much better shape now then it was when I first came in. I can name countless times both instructor Getty and Sam have listened to our feedback and implemented our ideas if it was a valuable solution.
On my third term at CBC. I’ve been listed as a “non-Washington resident” in their system this entire time. I assumed it had something to do with moving from Oregon to Washington a little over a year ago, and I finally called to inquire when that would fall off as they quickly burned through my FA AND Employer funded Tuition amounts AND my out of pocket... Turns out due to an error in their system they were charging me triple tuition rates because they had me listed as out of country despite having my Washington address. Guess what several thousand dollars they won’t be refunding? Check and triple check ANYTHING to do with this school and money, or you’ll get burnt. Peep that graduation rate, and the fact that you’ll have instructors literally tell you “if you don’t get it or need more instruction look it up on Google”. Shall we also talk about the brand new academic building they force-funded by charging students $85 a term? While simultaneously turning around and telling students “it’s free to use!” It isn’t… you’re paying $85 a term, check your fees, and you will be charged even if you’re entirely online. Pros though; You can attend mostly or in my case, entirely online. There are some absolute gems of instructors. It’s cheaper than WSU. When you can get someone on the phone, the staff are pretty helpful in getting to the bottom of things.
At an excellent price to earn a legitimate degree, with many more degree options becoming available this is an excellent choice to get an education without the crippling debt. In my opinion the online classes could use with improvement, they often use outdated videos or are extremely disorganized. Sometimes the information you needed was in a resources section instead of in the chapter you were working on and there was no way of knowing that unless you just poked around everywhere. Otherwise the facilities in person are excellent and the atrium is one of the most beautiful places with the freshest smelling air you can breath in the tri cities, it’s so nice to walk through or sit down and study or read in. CBC is constantly upgrading and improving their facilities, which is awesome especially when you consider WSU Tri-Cities looks run down, hardly ever improving their facilities, for quadruple the price with less options for programs and degrees. Source: I got my cyber security degree here, and also did running start here.
CBC seems to care more about "Diversity" and "Equity" than the actual education of their students. Through the past 2 years, the large majority of their classes were online-only, even after most other schools had gone back to being fully …
The CBC Automotive technology course was a train wreck to say the least. Just finished the 2 year automotive certificate program, and I couldn't be more frustrated, and feeling as if my education was stolen. The first year seemed ok, …
I avoided the red flags and I had really learned my lesson. I learned nothing from these instructors. This school is an embarrassment to America with 27% graduation percentage at it's highest. It's a place where a few upper staff employees …
When I started my Computer Science degree at CBC in 2001 (yes, it has taken me awhile - life happens) it was an excellent school. Back then, you could expect to have a full schedule of in-person classes lead by actual people. …
CBC use to be a great user friendly school. It has become so difficult to navigate anything or even apply. I can't believe how difficult it is for even someone with advanced computer training to access anything. I've been attending …
After going to CBC for 3 years I have to say that CBC is an OK place. Some teachers are great, others aren't so much! I highly recommend looking up your professor before taking a class with them. Also for new students - the parking is …
It is important to recognize when an organization shines bright! A shout-out to CBC Columbia Basin College. One mark of a great organization is that they make it right when they find an …
Sadly they treat you like a dollar sign. If you're not willing to put down a significant amount of money they treat you poorly.they run their financial aid in a very unhelpful manner. Also terrible staff who literally will hang up if you …
Pros: Cheap (well kinda) Some professors are very good and actually care about students …
Parking is awful and it definitely seems the CBC administrators don't care enough to do anything about it. Students have been wanting additional parking in the sagebrush areas for years yet nothing is done. Instead, they chose to put a …
