As a dual enrollment student who had experience with both Milwaukee colleges, UWM and MATC. I would highly recommend attending this if you are a incoming University Student. There are so many communities you can get yourself involved in. I am an incoming student and I have met really great people among the weeks i have been visiting campus for my summer experience trip. The people in the community are friendly and you can be yourself without judgement. Some of the areas I would highly suggest is the Student union and UREC. Union for the food and potentially seeing events on flyers on the wall that you are interested or small events held in the union for games, food, etc. As for the UREC, theres so many things you can do such as rent out materials like bikes, paddle boat equipment, hammocks, and much more. Theres a large gym with a track that is open to all students so I would go check that out. Overall, come to the school to expose yourself to the full experience :)
The best universities in Milwaukee. This was my first choice because of several factors. First thing being the teaching and the students to faculty ratio. And second one being the recreational events and vide range of festivals and stuff. I like this place quite a lot...
I attended UWM for my Masters in Civil Engineering. I've only good things to say about the school. Wonderful professors. Quality of education at least in my department is good. I took one course from Geosciences department and Prof Timothy Grundl was my instructor. He is awesome! If some students felt, they did not get enough help financially from university, I can understand that as the school went through severe budget cut during 2016-18 period, when I went to school. But, I do hope things will improve. Long live beer city! Long live Milwaukee!
The best university in the city of Milwaukee. Many programs and very helpful staff. Amazing student atmosphere. Teaching the leaders of tomorrow!
I have a lot of Milwaukee Pride and love going to school in my home but I have had many problems with the Advising staff. My current Advisor in the Education Department is wonderful and extremely helpful but the Advisor I had prior to her was horrid. She knew nothing and every time I asked a question she would hand me literature to read myself. Zero help and ended up in the wrong major because of it. Otherwise the school is great and I really do enjoy it. I just run into staff that are bad at their jobs sometimes. My advise is just make sure your advisors know what they are talking about so you don’t waste time and money.
Attended new student open house. Staff and student volunteers were extremely welcoming and supportive. You may not choose to attend here but the event was friendly and very informative.
go here if you want to be able to drink in your free time
I have had an amazing experience at UWM so far. Everyone is so kind. Instructors and advisors are very supportive and caring. I have enjoyed all of my classes so far and am grateful to be receiving my education at this university. There are so many opportunities to seek out, and many places to find a sense of belonging. I like this school a lot and hope to continue having a good experience throughout the rest of my time here.
Grad student here. Great programs and professors. Location near beach and all other amenities is wonderful as well
Professors and other faculty have been very respectful and supportive so far. The university housing facilities are not good. I’d say 4/10 at best. Campus is nice otherwise. I really like my academic advisor for my program. There is a good selection of classes and majors. Lots of options for activities on campus as well
