I strongly advise against attending HP Community College. My cousin was misled into going here instead of pursuing a D1 opportunity at Texas A&M, where he could have achieved more academically and athletically. Instead, he ended up at this ghost town of a campus with nothing to do but drink. The school feels lifeless, the opportunities are limited, and the resources are underwhelming. My cousin graduated from here and is now struggling, even resorting to applying for food stamps. It's incredibly disappointing to see how little support or opportunities the college provided. There are better options out there—even some underfunded charter schools offer more promising futures than this place. HP Community College feels like a complete waste of time and money. Howard (whoever that is)—send my cousin his money back. And the mascot? Hornets, bees, yellow bugs—whatever it’s supposed to be—trash, just like this school. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Don’t make the same mistake.

Pretty good college to go to. I went here for 3 years and got my diploma. Teachers and other staff are all very nice and willing to work with you. I enjoyed the community feeling of this college. Everyone is welcoming and nice to one another here. Some negatives though since it’s a rather small/private college, but overall I’m glad to have graduated from here.

Its been 46 years since I attended Howard Payne University, but it was the time of my life. Things were very different then. The great thing was that all students were given and even break ! We never had a chance to see unrest, but from my view point that was the climate in Brownwood, Texas. My Family moved there from the Big city my issue was never with the school, the people or the small city. We a had the best opportunities. My Brothers loved their I could walk downtown Howard Payne offered true campus life. I had a Blue and Gold Bennie! I attended the MacArthur Academy of Freedom . My God it was wonderful. I loved it!

How can you all say HPU is a school that is worth the money they charge? Please visit and learn about other Universities and Colleges in Texas before you commit to this school. See for yourselves, compare, directly talk to students. You will see this school is not worth your investment. Don't even take what I'm reporting as is--seek the truth. I don't believe the other ratings posted are true 'customers' and that's how keep fooling people.

I went there for a church camp in 2021 the cafeteria was pretty mid, it wasn't anything terrible though just standard cafeteria food. The dorms seemed a bit out dated and some of the rooms struggled with dripping AC units along with AC just not working at all.

I was a student at HPU in the 1970's and have been teaching at HPU since January 2007. It was an excellent place to prepare me for life 40 years ago and I am delighted to be a part of that continuing heritage today. Howard Payne University is the "road less traveled" which "makes all the difference" for a host of folks who are looking for an excellent education from a Christian perspective.

It's a great school. Great teachers and staff. Small, but big enough. Small city school. Watch out for those "Howard Payne goggles" everyone gets after a year of being there. INCREDIBLY expensive. So make sure you okay with being in debt for most of the rest of your life.

I graduated from HPU, and some of the best memories of my life were made here. I received an excellent education, made lifelong friends, and found permanent mentors in many of my professors.

Best school I could have gone to. Professors and staff are very helpful, and genuinely care about students. Loved the campus, and Brownwood really grew on me too!

Upward of 30k a year in tuition and their accreditation is at stake? I guess it costs extra to be a Christian in this world. I would shop around and find a more reasonable alternative considering the degrees offered and the social restraints imposed upon the adult students. Give unto Cesar.
