Small town school. Competitive sports. Member of men’s golf team 16-18. On campus (Ken Duke Golf Center) Them having their own indoor Golf practice facility has an advantage over other DII Colleges that don’t. ⛳️
While I'm glad my child got a bachelor's degree. It was a long hard road due to financial cuts and bad management at this location. Many of the tenured faculty are either quitting and going elsewhere or being made redundant due to course cuts. Please check the syllables and see if these are actually on campus classes before you enroll. They are outsourcing many areas of study (meaning it is an online class) while online is an option it isn't always the best option as the person teaching it will never be on the campus and will be hard to reach. I don't recommend this school unless you research deeply. Mine transferred in after receiving an associate's at another Arkansas state university and this one refused to acknowledge the accomplishments since they didn't do the whole 60 hours at HSU campus. Excuse me? It was still an Arkansas state university and therefore should not have mattered. Please do your research before choosing this campus!
Hidden Gem in the state of Arkansas. Great football program and right across the street from their rival, Ouachita Baptist University.
Excellent football camp. Great job to the coach and his staff! 👏🏿 …
Housing director is awful, need to be more professional when discussing with students.
Absolutely wonderful. Attended my daughter's graduation from Henderson State University
This university is headed downhill! Shady administration staff practices and terrible advice from the advisors has me regretting sending my daughter to HSU. After 1 semester, they cut most of their programs and forced some online classes with unexpected increased tuition costs. The online only courses were not due to the pandemic. Do not send your students to this place!
Not a great university to attend. Really lacking on campus security and handicap access (elevators out of order, ramps broken/busted, lack of handicap parking). The university is on the verge of bankruptcy due to giving out scholarships to students who frankly do not meet qualifications (athletes, students who don't/won't pay back debts). Many of their departments have closed and the majority of their courses WILL NOT transfer to another school (or any accredited school). Only thing they have going for them is their Teacher's college isn't bad and the aviation courses. Other than that, go to another university. I've seen high schools in Arkansas bigger than this place
Horrible administration. Got rid of most degrees and faculty and promises students can finish degrees, but aren't being offered teachers or resources to finish. Administration put the school in debt and it's the students having to suffer while their pay has barley changed if changed at all. Chancellor thinks that Humanities are not relevant in the 21st century. While he fired 70+ facility members and decreased facility's pays he still has a $250,000 salary that will increase by the year. This is school is joke and I regret coming here. If you want a good education and college experience go anywhere else. It's sad to see the school you loved go down like this.
My daughter loves the school and if she's happy there I'm excited for her. So you better believe I love that school and by the way she's met quite a few friends at the professor level. Then again she never meets a stranger.
