Event was in the 2nd floor Ballroom. We were there for a networking session with students. Department of Career Services is well organized.
So far I am absolutely loving it! The students are overall mature, the teachers are awesome because they teach and help me, and the school's system is organized. The student who go there aren't too party animal!! That is what I love. I feel very comfortable going in doing what I have to do and leaving with a peaceful mind and I am actually learning! I definitely would recommend Darton State College to anyone.
This is my 6th semester here at Darton State College as an international student. Albany is a quiet city. If you are someone that likes to party all day, Albany is not the best city for you. I like the fact that everything I need is at a walking distance. The faculty, especially the art teachers, at Darton State College are extremely helpful. I haven't met a teacher that was not willing to help. This is a great school to attend!
Perfect peace and serenity fills this campus through and through. From the walking trails through the woods, to having some me-time around the Koi pond to just admiring the buildings, the gardens, and nature around. ASU West campus is simply gorgeous.
The college that had a teacher tell a UNIFORMED POLICE OFFICER taking her class that he had to leave because his holstered gun was scaring her. Really?!?!!! I'll never attend here or recommend anyone else spend their money here either! I guess this teachers never watched the news and seen all the school shootings! She should feel lucky she has an armed police officer in her class!
Graduated here. This school is more akin to an extension of highschool, and not a professional learning environment. Professors here are hit or miss. I had a couple great professors, I had a lot of VERY bad professors. The English department is the exception, with the majority of the professors there being very professional and knowledgeable of their field. In more than one class, I had EXTREMELY immature "fresh-out-of-highschool" peers. I'm talking about the baggy pants, crappy music on cell phone max volume, and high attitude people in the middle of class. Felt like an inner-city summer school at times. Professors didn't, or couldn't, do anything about it. Administration is bad. Very bad. Lots of getting the run-around, lots of mis-information. Technology wise, not good. Their website actively suppresses google chrome and forces internet explorer, which as any tech savvy person would know is an insecure and clunky browser. The website bounces between basic HTML and confusing/frustrating UI. The campus itself is very well taken care of and looks very nice. Don't live on the dorms, over priced and permanently reeks of weed.
This school is an unprofessional joke! I messed up coming here for my Last year. The staff is ghetto and money hungry especially registration and financial aid! I should have stayed at Savannah State they are lazy as heck, ghetto and care nothing about students. They messed up my courses, dropped me out of the wrong class and didn’t even place me back in until the LAST week of school but I’m taking the fall for it, wgeb it is THEIR FAULT! I am working on doing everything I can to report this messy staff to higher authority. Go elsewhere with your education !
"ALBANY, GA (WALB) - On Wednesday, a police officer was escorted from a classroom at Darton State College. The officer is a student at the college, and was wearing his full police uniform. The teacher was reportedly uncomfortable with having a gun in the classroom, and asked the officer to be escorted out. The university has issued a statement, reading: 'Darton State College is appreciative for the service of our law enforcement, and welcome them as students on our campus. We have apologized to the officer for our misunderstanding when he attended class on our campus, and we regret this happened. We have met with the faculty and staff involved to reiterate the Georgia Law and Darton Policy.' - Dr. Thomas Ormond, Interim Provost/VP for Academic & Student Affairs, Darton State College" The instructor in question should be referred for psychiatric counseling; fear or discomfort inthe presence of inanimate objects indicates mental aberration. Kudos to Dr. Ormond, who appears to have handled the matter well to date.
I love me school. The surrounding area is a little boring, but the learning atmosphere is great and the teachers are awesome. And yes, they are developing.
This is my 4th semester as a student at Darton College and I couldn't be more delighted. The distance learning classes meet my needs and my professors and advisors have been very supportive.
