Had to take my CPC exam for medical coding at their testing center. They wouldnt let me use ear plugs (which are acceptable according to other FSCJ sites and the AAPC). More than that - Their proctors are so distracting and unprofessional. Flipping papers in the desk next to me. I asked to move because she was so distracting and she got an attitude with me. I paid $400 for that exam. Luckily I passed but this exam center sucks! Steer clear
I’m only a freshman Attending college at 24 for the first time in a AA program. Honestly, the school is ok, I usually attend on campus classes in the week during the evenings so based on that, it’s extremely quiet, the classes are extremely small maybe 3 or 4 students including you, which kinda sucks, but I’m not really a big people person. Their is no life to the campus though, no programs, no gymnasium, no cool school events or games, the teachers are ok their teaching is very dry though, their teaching is also low vibrational, some don’t teach at all idk it’s boring but educational if education had a basic generic meaning. The tuition and school fees have been taken care of so that’s good but hey I’m only attending for an AA on financial assistance so a Bachelor’s would probably be more cost effective. Overall this school is a school, if u want a real college experience with higher educational standards, than a University would be the way to go. I also wish there would be more security influence like keep our CLASS DOORS LOCKED 🔐 no reason y I should be able to just walk in the school and walk right in my classes don’t need to scan my badge or anything thats crazy.
I’ve decided that I’ll be switching schools. I initially thought returning to this school would be a good experience, but it’s been disorganized from the start. I recently found out that the FASFA corrections I submitted over a year ago were never approved on FSCJ’s end only approved on FASFA’s end. I was told to go to FSCJ and notify the financial aid office about the updates, which I did, but nothing was ever processed. On top of that, the lack of communication has made everything more difficult and has dragged out the entire process of trying to go back to school. At this point, I need a more efficient and supportive environment to move forward with my education.
The school is all over the place they give you the run around nobody knows anything. Mostly everything is done over the phone or online not in person if you go to the campus they’ll probably make you submit a help ticket not see a real person to help you and that could take 3-5 days so don’t let the matter be urgent! Try going to UNF, JU or EWU make this school your last absolute last result !!!
I took my admissions test here recently. The staff were not very friendly. Specifically the bald old man with glasses. There’s already enough pressure going back to school. I shouldn’t have to deal with people that are clearly unhappy with their life.
The worst school I have ever attended. The enrollment process was horrible. No one knows the correct information. No one helps you. You are on your own ever step of the way. Took me a whole year to enroll. A lot of unnecessary back and forth. Not to mention most of the professors are horrible as well and don’t teach at all. They just click buttons. I wish I listened when someone told me not to go here.
Poor wait time due to advisor gossiping amount each other and complete disregard for guest time. My wait was suppose to be an hour which went over two hours way longer than expected.
If you need to speak to an academic advisor (enrolled or not) this is the last campus I would recommend going to. Every time I have gone in for assistance with something, there seems to be some sort of issue, or the advisors aren’t helpful at all. Went in on Monday and put my name on the list, after waiting almost 2 HOURS and asking one of the many workers (wish I got his name) who was sitting around what my estimated wait time was, he couldn’t find my name on the list. He could tell I was getting frustrated (like I said, always run into some issue here) so he gave me an email that was supposedly for the department I needed to get in contact with. Come to find out, he gave me a nonexistent email for the complete wrong department. Went to the advising office at south campus today and took them less than 10 minutes to give me the contact info I needed. As far as classes, there are some offered here with great professors. But generally speaking, if you look on ratemyprofessor, south campus professors typically have much higher ratings and I’ve had better luck finding ones with better reviews there.
I’ve utilized some of their free classes and they’re always timely and informative.
I had an extremely disappointing experience with two academic advisors at FSCJ Kent Campus, Reginald Robinson and Tamula Buck. My encounters with them were marked by disrespect, unprofessionalism, and a lack of guidance. Reginald Robinson's behavior was particularly troubling. He showed a complete lack of respect for women and treated me with the utmost disrespect. His frustration with my questions was palpable, and what was even more distressing was that he spoke to me in a hostile tone in front of my children. This type of behavior is wholly unacceptable and goes against the principles of professionalism and respect that should be upheld by academic advisors. Tamula Buck, unfortunately, was no better. She consistently exhibited a nasty attitude and lacked professionalism during our interactions. It is disheartening to encounter such behavior from an academic advisor whose role is to provide guidance and support to students. No student at FSCJ should have to endure this kind of treatment. To make matters worse, when I attempted to address these issues with the college's management, I did not feel that my concerns were handled with the care they deserved. The lack of compassion only added to my disappointment with the institution. Academic institutions should take student concerns seriously and address them in a effective manner. In addition to the disrespectful behavior of the advisors, I faced significant challenges in receiving clear guidance on my academic and career path. FSCJ misguided me into taking unnecessary courses, resulting in wasted time and resources. The absence of clear direction from academic advisors left me feeling lost about my educational goals. This lack of guidance has had a profound impact on my academic journey. I now regret not receiving the clear guidance I needed during my time at FSCJ. I feel that I have wasted years taking unnecessary courses that do not contribute to my academic progress. This lack of instruction and guidance has left me with some courses that do not count toward my degree. I repeatedly expressed my desire to apply for nursing schools at other institutions to the advisors. However, it was only in September 2023 that I was informed about the need for additional courses to meet the requirements. This inconsistency in advising has left me scrambling to complete the necessary courses and has jeopardized my academic goals. In conclusion, I strongly discourage seeking assistance from Reginald Robinson and Tamula Buck at FSCJ Kent Campus. Their short tempers, lack of etiquette, and unprofessional behavior make them ill-suited for their roles as academic advisors. Furthermore, the overall lack of guidance and responsiveness from the college staff has made my experience at FSCJ deeply disappointing and disheartening. Academic advising should aim to inform and guide students effectively, and it is crucial that the institution ensures that students receive consistent and accurate guidance to achieve their educational goals. I sincerely hope that my experience does not happen to another student, and that FSCJ takes steps to address these issues promptly.
Was able to take a proctored test at the Kent Campus and was very impressed with the setup, but even more so the staff. They were all very friendly and helpful from start to finish which helped during a stressful situation. I would use the services again and highly recommend them.
The science department is almost like a cult. 90% of the science teachers are not willing to work with you and if you try to contact the department, they will blantly disregard or delay a response. I had a science teacher wrongly grade me …
Military division didn't call me back before they closed.. Left two voicemails within the last two weeks an no call back. If you try and speak to another department about your GI bill they redirect you to the military division. Not getting …
Decent college campus but needs funding for programs like McNair Scholars and Trio. These programs are crucial for minorities to be successful. Unfortunately, their state funding has been greatly reduced and a huge portion of students are military. Hey, USA and the State of Florida, get to work supporting this community college.
Continuing education in the facial specialty program . I give this class a 5 star review . Professor Gordon is a class act among no others . I am truly grateful to be in her classroom everyday . She has given the tools and knowledge to go …
I had the opportunity of running into one of the security guards, Marlon today. He may be one of the most caring people I’ve ever met in my entire life, I just went through a family health crisis and haven’t been feeling the best, but meeting someone so positive and caring lifted my entire day. Truly an inspirational person
Worst campus ever, I called to get some information about assessments and a lady by the name of Richardson was extremely rude to me. People are trying to get back to school it's already hard enough the least they could is trying to be nice.
Clean, mostly quite, and well kept campus. Tutors are great and classes are easy to get too. This campus defiantly support most starter classes, but even if it doesn't the other FSCJ campuses in the area are close by too. …
This campus is unorganized, unreliable, and unprofessional. I called to get a status on my general appeal today; both advisor and advisor supervisor couldn't find or tell me my status (that I been waiting 5 weeks for). But was able to find …
Just went for my placement test, the campus is very poorly marked. It took me 20 minutes of waking ,2 staff, and finally 1 student that knew where to go. Make sure you show up early as it's easy tip get lost and there's no maps to help you find your way.
