My husband is Haskell alumnus. He took me go around campus and they have a food facility. One day my husband’s tooth so hurts and he needed to get his tooth pulled. We traveled from Alaska so we didn’t know where to go here in Lawrence, KS but he found out that there was Haskell Health Center and he finally could walk in and get his tooth pulled. Zero bill since he showed his Tribal ID.
I really enjoyed the festival last Saturday. I really enjoy festivals like this because they allow me to be a part of and learn about others' Indigenous cultural backgrounds and my own Indigenous ancestry. Also, I had fun talking to the staff and students. They were all very nice, especially a student named Jordan who didn't mind spending time with me. I will be driving back again for the next festival and/or any other community events that will take place!
Greatest place on earth, alumni of 2023 as well. Haskell has paved roads for me that I never knew would happen. #Onward
We went for the Annual Indian Art Fair. There was an entire field of extremely high quality fine art for sale, along with tribal dance exhibitions and a time for all the children to play inside the Pow Wow circle. It was a great experience.
Talked my daughter into enrolling into Haskell. From the beginning we had little success getting any help. We were met with confusion and unanswered questions. The only person who made an inpact was Coach Gipp. He talked with myself and my daughter and was looking forward to Coaching my daughter . Later we found out he was fired as Track coach. We went to tour the campus at a later time. Met the coaches they made it seem like it was an awesome college and they were looking forward to having my daughter join sports. It was all a lie!! No help from staff. Administrators to Dorm staff. Haskell sucks! It is a cheap college and it shows!! Dont believe me? Do some research!
Only thing that is a big dissapointment here at Haskell is the funding. It takes way to long for Pell to show up at the beginning of the semester. A really disappointing fact to hear when your off-campus paying your own bills, is that on-campus is getting theirs first. I mean they already have shelter and food at curtis. So, I don't appreciate being left with over due bills and late fees while I'm waiting for funding. FYI most of us off-campus will be paying our own bills and it doesn't make much sense to me why on-campus would get theirs first.
I love Haskell. ❤ I can't help but to think of its history, and I don't know much of it. But what I do know is that it's got so much someone could learn. Native Americans are a beautiful people a rich culture. It is evolving, mixing traditional and contemporary. It will keep Haskell alive.
Haskell is a decent school with a mixed bag of educators. I have met some incredible professors at my time at Haskell, however I have also had many mediocre experiences. My main complaint is the office staff. Regardless of what time I call either the registrar or anyone associated, I get a voice mail. I've left multiple voice mails spanning many different days at many different times and I can promise you there will never be a call back. If you ever need to get a hold of someone at this university your best bet is to live there and hope you can walk in at the right time (although every hour seems to be lunch hour!)
We had a beautiful morning on campus and Leslie and Patti were so kind and welcoming. My son and I both enjoyed the tour and possibilities 💕 …
This was a great experience for me at that time. When i attended Haskell, it was a trade school. I took up practical nursing. and worked as an L.p.N. after that. My last name was Somegastava. I made alot of friends from different tribes. Kept in contact with some and have lost a few. So hope some of you will write, i would enjoy hearing from you. I had a chance to return to Haskell a few years back. My daughter- Leslie drove me there. There have been a few changes but to me it looks the same .Old Pokie remains and some of the other buildings. The union building has some changes. I know many of my fellow nurses, are married and have families. They may be retired now, like me. Taking care of family members. So ladies, I would like to here from you-----Please. After graduating, I had planned to enter one of the branches of the military. My brother talked me out of it. i shouldn't have listened too him. But was not for me to do , I guess. Well this is me for now. Take care everyone and God Bless You All. Somegy.
Haskell is a very small place, so the community is small. Everyone knows everyone like a small town. Im not use to that sort of thing, but it was very refreshing and nice to have a condensed group of people trying to help you succeed. The …
Loved attending the university. Plan on returning soon, being surrounded by an amazing support system is the best feeling in the world. #OnwardHaskell!!!
Dentist appointment and I rate them 5 thank you even though getting teeth pulled doesn't feel good they do a great job.
Haskell Art Market was great, but should stay on the 2nd weekend of September
Wonderful Indian arts fair. I enjoyed it!!
Great place, to attend or visit! Great people, staff. Clean campus.
Best experience of native language culture. I came here to see their prevention plan, 8th July 1996.
Wish they would answer their damn phones and reply to potential students requests for information regarding the application status, but then again its B.I. F"N, A!!!
Excellent clinic
I'm excited to have my son enrolled and ready to start this fall.
