I love it here! This school and its education have always been underrated. I can’t thank them enough for the doors they have helped me open along the transfer path. I am just one semester away from graduating. All I can say is the classes might be a little expensive but they definitely make up for it. If you ever find yourself struggling make sure to reach your closest professors. They are always pleasant in welcoming to help.
Hands-down definitely the best two-year college I’ve ever been to. The music curriculum is my favorite! You got a check out Mr. Nicotera’s Audio engineering classes with a concentration in music. Also, be sure to sign up for Ms. McDermott’s piano Class she’s the best and she dresses to the tea all the time! She was actually one of my only instructors that came to my graduation and I will forever be grateful for her because she was definitely one of my favorite instructors. I truly enjoyed Mr. Jesse Boyd’s Guitar lessons, it truly helped me through the pandemic because Everyone was quarantined and I was able to have private lessons from one of the best upright bass musician in Jazz! Be sure to sign up for his Jazz Appreciation class! You will thank me later! Most Importantly and well Appreciated, I can not forget our Cutting Edge Music Business coordinator and Music Business Instructor Mr. Eric Cager! I am so grateful for his class because it definitely helped me during the beginning of my business! I was able to learn and utilize what I learned in my business! God bless you all and I will never forget how kind each and everyone of you were to me! I’m definitely a sucker for electives and I couldn’t have have made it across the stage in 2022 without all of you. Love ❤️ Always~Ariel
classes are great, professors are awesome. but the financial aid dept is a JOKE. just this semester ive had to drive out TWICE to verify my ID even though they scanned my ID and have it on file. while less than a month later do i have to do it again? i live an hour away from campus, im an online student for a reason.
Delgado is a roller coaster. One day, you’re in the office for hours and still nothing gets done, and the next day you’ve graduated and you’re life is better. The prices are ridiculous, the staff is terrible and undersized and the classes are very underfunded for what they charge. But the campus is pretty and conveniently located across from City Park. Overall, I dislike the school more than I liked it.
Been trying for weeks to register for classes and there's also an issue that you can't understand unless you drive up there and everyone tells you something different. Been calling them just for them to put me on hold for 10 mins at a time and not even being helpful in the end. These people do NOT care about incoming freshmen and don't seem like they wanna be there.
They are purposefully are delaying process, I went to this school FOUR different times, to present this ID verification.
WORST WEBSITE EVER. so NOT user friendly. Can’t find class schedules. Disorganized information. Pages that haven’t been updated since 2018. Awful interface. Registration is a joke. It looks more like hackers put a half@seed site together to steal your money than a legit school trying to get you to enroll. The giant green Delgado CC bar at the top of the page is the worst!!! Takes up so much space! Ugh. So yeah. I never enrolled. Taking online classes elsewhere.
Choose to study here may be one of the worst decisions I have ever made in my life. I did nothing wrong, but the instructor deliberately targeted me, not notifying me of the weekly schedule in time, posting wrong information on canvas, canceling classes at 6 o'clock in the morning, and changing classrooms at the last minute. It's disgusting!!!
Advisors are trash. They will lie to you for a dime. They will build a schedule that doesn’t actually follow your degree program. If you graduate as a transfer student in the summer, you won’t be able to actually transfer until the next year. They need some serious work done on their administrative team. Pick any other school, literally.
Coming from a community college in another large city, Delgado's admission process is so disconjointed and discentralized. When you try to figure out what certain things mean or how do you sign up for an email, the staff just don't know. You might get a hyperlink to an FAQ on how to sign up for email, and even that doesn't work. And that ranges from counselor's to front desk personnel. (here's the secret: you have to wait for someone or some department that processes new people to be able to to use the FAQ and sign up for an email. only then can you actually use the FAQ guide. who does this part? who knows. but it can take weeks.) You can sign their online Title IV verification for financial aid. It doesn't really matter. You have to do it in person. Only the financial aid counselors can really do it. I waited weeks before I finally went in person to see a counselor who fixed it. I know someone who waited two months. I told them how they can get the verification so the DCC system stops saying you can't get financial aid until your Title IV signed. (go to a counselor who says "yea we got people that do that everyday", "nah man, it's been pending for months", "don't worry they'll check it today. the online system works just fine", and it magically gets approved that day only because you decided to make a big fuss about it. the counselor originally tried to get me not to do an appointment because he said the online system works fine) I am going on my second semester and I'm already running into verification issues a second time when it comes to financial aid or being in classes. The last time they dropped my from my courses which created a big problem when using financial aid. They "couldn't confirm my identity" after taking a photo copy of my license. I had to go through all my financial aid stuff again. And you know how they "confirm my identity"? By taking a photo copy of my license... Didn't you do that a few weeks ago already?! A few weeks later, they have some separate system that says I need to verify my identity again while I'm trying to get aid for my second semester and get classes ready. Are you serious? Now I have to use a separate website I never seen before and also get a paper signed. Did my identity status become terrorist level or something? I'm sure they are going to resolve it again by... taking another photo of my license. If they did all this the first time and I only had to do it one time then there would be no problem. But maybe I'll need a background check by police for my fourth identity confirmation or something. The only reason to come here is because it is the cheapest in the city. It's crazy because this "cheap" college is twice as expensive as the other community college I used to go to in a MUCH BIGGER city. AND DAMN DO THEY HIT YOU UP WITH FEES EACH SEMESTER. Classes themselves are fine and the cafeteria is pretty good to, but they really don't care to make it easy for new students coming in. EDIT: Well, I they needed my ID again. My classes got dropped for a second semester in a row because their system doesn't identify my as paying for my classes a month in advance with tuition assistance. This freaking college. With all the time I spend fixing issues here it might be worth paying twice the amount to go somewhere else. MORE EDITS: This college still can't keep track of anything and asks me for paperwork I submitted a year ago. Their school records freaking suck.
