Beautiful campus! The university has a quiet and calming atmosphere. Has everything you will need to start college life and be successful. There are lots of renovations and improvements going on to enhance campus life for students, and give parents the sense of relief in knowing their kids will be taken of!

If you are a young woman thinking of attending this school, stay away for your own safety. eta: y'all cant afford to pay your employees more than $13/hr? where does all the $$ go? 🤔 AND staff has to pay to park? at work??? heinous.

A premier research university with a lovely, compact campus. The faculty is great and the students are boisterous.

I visited the campus with my cousin who loves her work as an Assistant Professor here. The campus is spread along the beach scenic drive and you can just cross the street to get on the beach. The friendship oaks are just majestic and you can spend hours looking at them. The campus has an interesting history, I would recommend knowing more about it if you are here. The pond under the bridge with lots of turtles in them is a cool hanging spot, and so is the chimney hang-out spot.

I signed up for an MPH program, got admitted within a week, went through one mess of a semester, they made us cram through it, assignments changed as we advanced through the semester, they added on to the course calendar at the last minute, I even missed a final because of this. They claimed they accrediting body was coming so that is why they were making changes. It was also allegedly their first semester introducing this program. They play so much games they didn’t let me into some of the zoom classes, they expected us to go out into the community to collect primary data for some assignments during Covid-19 when some places were still shut down. and my did I miss the red flags. If you like your sanity stay away from this school. We had one professor who could not filter herself to save herself she acted weird and communicated feed back to me in a put down way it was unacceptable, she made comments about ethnic people and places that were offensive and turned it into a joke. I asked her a question about a theory she asked us to write a topic on, she didn’t like it and turned it into a mockery sabotaged me and posted material that didn’t make any sense just to prove a point. You would never expect this behavior from a school in a free world where people can be anything they want to be. An institution of higher learning that can not practice professionalism. Stay away from this school you will save you some money that you have to pay back either way, with unfinished course work and no degree to show for it. My opinion is they are toxic!

USM children's center is truly a blessing from God, the staff are awesome and meeting the different families have been extremely wonderful. My grandsons love it. Hannah has been a blessing to us, was so excited when she decided to become apart of the team

I don't really have that much of an opinion of USM since I've only spent one summer session with them but I wanted to add my two cents anyway I may come back and update it later. So, far my experience wasn't that bad unlike some of the other reviewers here, but they are correct about the parking situation, the professor poor work ethnic( I wonder how were these people even able to get their degrees), working with the business and financial aid offices is a bit of a pain the are slow to reply but they do try to get more money out of you, the cafeteria meals are mediocre at best you might as well get your own food or eat somewhere else on campus. Their assistance with residence housing has been poor in my experience I am in rough situation right now because all of the dorms are full and this school doesn't compensate housing for students like renting a hotel for students or covering for apartments. I highly recommend that anyone to apply for housing ahead of time like very very early otherwise they'll leave you to fend for yourself.

The University of Southern Mississippi has been a second home to me. The small classrooms and walk-able campus give the school a shady, welcoming feel. The school has lots of spirit, and most departments have professors that care and are dedicated. I've completed my time there. It was a very rewarding experience. Like any school, the more you immerse yourself in the activities like the fantastic music program, the more involved you feel. Take the time to do some extra curricula. You will not regret it.

Wonderful experience every time. Keep up with your DPR and pay attention to which semesters certain classes are offered when planning your progress. A great state school! #SMTTT!

I'm currently going here and I cannot wait to get out. The parking situation is ridiculous. They should not differentiate between student parking, it causes too much confusion and senseless tickets. There already is not enough parking. They …

They would tell me I was good to go with financial aid. 2 week later, I'd check in and they would need more information. It happened about 6 times. Didn't even get financial aid until months after I left the school. No one was every able to …

Great smaller southern university, lots of school pride. The campus is easily walkable and accessible. There is also the long leaf trace that runs parallel to it for walking jogging and biking.

Lots of signs, several one-way streets, decently maneuverable but keep your eyes peeled

If you are not familiar with USM it is widely known as Mississippi's diploma mill. You (or your cat) can get just about any generic, non-respected, useless undergraduate degree at this party school. It's littered with bitter professors …
