First, I would like you to consider the type of people you hire and take their values into account. This happened around 9:45 a.m in JSQ location.I was waiting my turn to have my car parked, and they asked me for my ID, which is fine, I showed it to them, and they asked me to leave. And the reason? The reason was that I didn't have a sticker! They asked me for my ID but not for a sticker! The man didn't even dare to say, “Show me your schedule,” or even comment, “We'll keep your car until you come back with the sticker.” They didn't say anything to me at all, and they didn't say anything to my face. All I said was that I was late for class. The worst part? The worst part was having to leave that parking lot ALONE! The street is very narrow, and backing out of that parking lot is difficult. I didn't even receive instructions or help to get out of there! I hit my car, and what did they do or say to me? NOTHING! I left there totally angry, crying because at some point, maybe it was my fault, but no one deserves to be treated the way they treated me.As I said, maybe it's my fault for not having a sticker! But you know how hard it is to find parking outside! How was I supposed to move my car, find parking, and come back? It was impossible since I had already looked for parking. And as I said at the beginning, what angers me the most are the VALUES, the way those people who worked this morning treated me. It would have cost them nothing to wait for me to come back for the sticker and leave my car there for 10 minutes, it would have cost them nothing to give me instructions on how to leave the parking lot, they did absolutely nothing! I am an immigrant student who, unfortunately, has been paying for college for over a year, and situations like this simply make me want to leave. I emphasize values because I work in customer service. I have never treated people this way, and I never will, even if I have a thousand people on line. ALWAYS TREAT PEOPLE WELL! And I don't want to think that just because I'm Latina, they treated me that way.
The security guard is so rude after the work you are not even allowed to sit I was there and god I don’t know how they give jobs these days. The rudest ppl I have ever met
This location has some of the rudest staff and faculty I’ve ever encountered. From the security guards, to a few (not all) of the lunch staff. Many have poor attitudes, especially if you have questions or need assistance. They make you feel like a burden simply for asking. While most of the professors and classes are great, the school needs to improve how they hire and manage their faculty. it took months for a complaint I filed to be addressed, after I had to reach out to everyone in HR just to get my case heard and be dismissed in the end. It's clear that the Journal Square campus doesn’t prioritize or care much for their students. If you want to be treated with respect, I’d recommend the North Hudson campus instead.
Good luck trying to find a quiet place. Libraries are suppose to be quiet and students come in super loud like they at a frat party to gossip about the latest things. Ridiculous! Especially at Journal square location. The level 1 rules (Whispering) needs to be enforced. Or kick the loud ones out. Even the staff lack understanding that concept. Personally classes need to at least meet twice a week not once especially the late start classes. Oh good luck finding a decent parking space, too much constructions in the area. LIBRARIES IS NOT A PLACE FOR GOSSIP Y'ALL OR TO BE OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD. WHISPER VOICES ONLY!!!!!! One 3 credit class is above 600 bucks! too much for a community college.
The best culinary program in the country. They have a full cafe that is quietly open to the public. Great food and Chef Dee is the best. She fixed me some pizza on flat bread that was outstanding. Ask for her and mention I sent you.
HCCC is an amazing school. Professors and staff are wonderful.
I took only one class at the Jersey City location, but I don't like it as much as I do the North Hudson campus, where I am taking all my classes. The professors are very helpful and knowledgeable; they try to assist you as much as they can. The staff is very nice, and the building is very clean. Just make sure to understand what you need to do for your degree if you're planning to transfer, as the counselors won't help as much, to be honest.
Watch out if you are placed in basic classes like English and Math or both. You guys better pass them. Note. basic classes are leveled so English has 0 1 2 3 then college 101prep meaning with lab. Math Has 2 basic math and basic algebra. Meaning is not a college course and Will not be doing anything with your major until you pass it. If you don’t get out of basic courses you are wasting your time and money. By the way basic course get expired. My math class got expired after 2 years. If you have a learning disability make sure there service work for you. Tutoring in this school for me at the North Hudson one hour is not enough and a few times the lady was a no show or was late so 1 hour wasted . Make sure financial aid is paying for your classes and go ask in person and ask when. Keep an eye on your schedule before you register make sure payments are payed and always make sure you have financial money to cover it because if not they will get dropped at the last minute. They will not tell you. follow up with ur school emails. Oh and most importantly financial aid has a maximum credit limit of 30 credits covering basic classes. If you go over the limit you will have to pay for it.
Worst school ever if I were able to give it no stars I would. First no one ever picks up the phone they have a whole entire team back there in Financial Aid and no one answers the phones and even after leaving a voicemail no one gets back to you meaning that you gotta stop doing what you are doing and personally go there yourself . If you're missing documents they won't reach out to you and inform you so other schools do it why can't they? Secondly they charge you a registration fee even after you've registered yourself online .What is the point of me registering myself if I'm going to get charged regardless makes no sense. Also some professors do not teach well they don't understand that we are paying a lot of money for these courses they don't use the textbooks that we pay 300+ dollars for.... nothing money does not grow on trees like seriously this school really needs to do better I'm glad I'm out of there after December
HCCC is an excellent school. This campus is the main campus, so it's the largest. Classes are in separate buildings. I took Calculus 1 and Calculus 2 in the math building (about 2 blocks away from the main building). I went to a 4-year college and only took classes here over the summer to transfer credits and save money. Security is great, you must have a HCCC ID to enter any building. The professors here are superb as well. Specifically, my Calculus professor is a great educator!
