Very helpful staff, actually riding around d on golf carts offering not only directions but rides. Elevators and carts available to help students move in, rounded environment, nice people, clean dorms. Surrounding area is somewhat secluded. A Walmart down tge street but no close Kroger that I knew of, lots of extra curricular activities for the kids, my daughter actually chose jujitsu! As time goes by I may update, if I don't its because nothing has gotten worse as we discover more about the university.

My experience is obviously my own experience. Therefore, anything I say is what I experienced ONLY. I used to live in the Centennial dorms, which were nice because of the private bathroom. However, repairs were constantly needed on different things, such as the shower light. Before we were expected to move out for summer vacation, the light above the sink stopped working. This was the second repair needed in the room. I DID NOT put in a help desk ticket, which is completely my fault, but the lights did not die because I didn't put in a help desk ticket. The expensive housing around campus is obviously not Kent States' fault, yet it should still be mentioned. If you are looking for off-campus housing, the only cheap places I can recommend are the apartments behind the Raising Canes on Market Street. Everything else I have seen is extremely expensive for a college student. The food is alright, BUT Hippie Chicken is pretty good. I've eaten there a few times. They also have multiple other places you can eat at including The DI hub and Rosie's Diner. As for medical stuff, it's honestly really convenient. The clinic they have on campus is technically like a mini hospital. Of course, there are things they can not do, given they aren't working at an actual hospital. If you need a simple check-up, they are able to do that for you. They also have free therapy sessions that you can take to your advantage. I can't remember who said this, but someone at Kent State told us that we're paying to stay here, therefore, use everything they have to our advantage. Anyways, the free therapy sessions do not last. You will eventually be expected to pay. I can not remember how many free sessions you get, but I remember that you get quite a bit. I might be childish complaining about this, but the weed issue is horrible. They tell people not to smoke around campus. They don't listen. You could be walking to Rosie's Diner after class, and then all of the sudden, a huge whiff of skunk invades your nostrils like a lingering fart. I know there are others out there who have the same opinion as me, so that was for them. It is a genuine issue to think about before coming to Kent State. Moving on, some majors do require internships for you to graduate. If you have social anxiety, you know exactly why this is horrifying. I know that the Digital Media Production major requires one, so watch out. If you do not have a car, the bus and walking are your only options. DO NOT bike or walk to Walmart!! It's too far of a journey, no matter how close it seems. The towns surrounding Kent State are a bit sketchy at times. I was followed by a random man walking out of the Family Dollar by the McDonald's. If you are a woman, make sure you are keeping yourself safe. Of course, men should do that as well. Lastly, I feel as if the hours for the shops are too short. Eastways shop is not open past 8, whereas Rosie's Diner is. Rosie's Diner is open until 1 AM. Unfortunately, Rosie's does not have a wide range of products for you to choose from. It's basically a gas station inside of a college dorm. Eastways shop has meals and ingredients for those meals. Of course, it's not a full-blown store, but it still has a wider range of options. I do not believe I am returning to Kent State ever. I had a bad experience with a person who then ruined the whole experience for me. I am truly disgusted, sometimes driving past those navy blue signs. I don't hate Kent State, and I do wish I was able to go back. That's just not possible right now. With that being said, I hope you all have a great time at Kent State! It is a nice college, and a lot of the professors are cool. Bye!

It is a strong academically university with a lot of programs and levels of classes. But it is also very interesting and nice to walk around the campus! Must visit !

I graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2005, and got a Master's the next year. The university told me I'd have my email address for life. I'm still alive, and they're revoking access in October 2025 as a cost-saving measure. It's just incredibly destructive to lose an email account you've been actively using for decades. A very unfortunate double-cross.

Very nice looking campus, all buildings are fairly new. Easily walkable and very close to town. May 4 shooting memorial is very touching

I’ve known faculty here in geology and Geography for many years and recently taught there for two days. The faculty and students are all top notch… I highly encourage a visit or to enroll there. Kent is a very nice community as well and the regional surrounding landscape is beautiful particularly in the fall.

Visited the May 4th Memorial and Visitors Center. It was quite informative and very well put together. I was a little disappointed in the daffodils as they seemed rather sparse compared to when I was last there some 20+ years ago.

Justice for the victims of the massacre that took place on May 4th, 1970. Never forget who they were, their lives being taken during a protest against the American war in Vietnam. The Ohio National Guard was never held responsible for their deaths. Jeffrey Glenn Miller, Allison Beth Krause, William Knox Schroeder, and Sandra Lee Scheuer.

I have enjoyed the beautiful campus, cafeteria and the hospitality of the residents , staff, and families of students around the KSU community.

I am a former student. For the first two years I was off campus due to COVID. However, the next two I was on. Two big pros are the campus and the town. To start, the campus is very pretty, and it also offers nice facilities such as the student center and the rec center. Also, students (for the most part) are friendly and that goes for staff too. The town is also great. There are lots of places to eat and hang out downtown, and there are scenic places to walk by the river as well. But there are also two big cons which is why it is not five stars. The first is that this college is ultra-liberal. I am a right leaning to moderate politically, and there were many instances where I was berated by both students and staff for not having similar beliefs politically. I am a Political Science major so discussing politics is pretty much unavoidable for me. Also with COVID they had mandatory testing and if you ever missed testing they could literally give you student conduct violations and even expel you for missing too much testing which I thought was ridiculous. So overall this school for me was okay, but needs many things changed. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE FIVE STAR REVIEWS THEY ARE FAKE KENT PROBABLY PAID SOMEONE TO DO IT.

They got $60,000 out of me but that wasn't enough money to let me keep my "email for life". Thanks a lot Kent State, even years after the fact you manage to cause me problems.

Friend lives there, place is awesome, lots of diversity of different cultures living together. Lots to do to swimming, gym, billiards, but the building itself needs some attention, ceilings need work, water damage, outside needs cleaned up …

RIP, Allison, William, Sandra, Jeffrey. Kent State held a senseless act by the National Guard. Peace, Gerald Casale.

Wish we had known. Cryptic enrollment process linking to outside websites. Had to phone Kent multiple times, 1/2 hour on hold every time, and even Kent employees were confused. Your username is your email, until it isn't. …

No parking. I tried to get the parking pass but they were out. Not only were they very expensive, but even if I got the one recommended earlier I would’ve had to park far away and walk 11+ minutes to class in the middle of winter. I tried …

Upon visiting, we noticed how rundown the campus was. The track and field needs repainted. The student body was disrespectful and lax. The student workers were kind and helpful. We ended up deciding against sending our student here.
