Their financial aid department is absolutely terrible. Reached out in the very beginning of my first semester there to get everything sorted out. I was given the run around and told it was one problem after the next. Still having the same problem into my second semester even emailed with the Senior Director of the Financial Aid Department & still haven’t received an email back after a month of waiting. However, the classes are great but the issues with the financial aid office make it not worth it.
If you're planning on going to school here, make sure that you enroll at least 6 months early because they have messed up my financial aid so bad that I wasn't able to even enroll in my classes. So now I'm getting very discouraged doing online classes which is very hard for me to do at home. I don't have financial aid so I don't have a laptop. It's been very challenging and the school has been not helpful at all and they just keep telling me four to six weeks 4 to 6 week. I was supposed to turn in an academic plan because my teacher couldn't figure out how to update my grade and the person that was supposed to process it never did it. So they had me as failing when I wasn't. And when I went to go turn in my academic plan they gave me the wrong paper seven times. Seven times is crazy. And then they told me there's nothing they can do about it and I still have to wait months to get my money.
Their admissions office is not the best. We have been calling all day to notify them that my son cannot finish his application online due to a glitch in their website. When trying to get ahold of someone else, no one answers or calls back.
Had a chance to do the defensive driving training and it was awesome!!! Dennis was our classroom instructor and Jennifer was my driving coach, super helpful and extremely patient. I had a blast at the same time learned some better driving habits. I would highly recommend everyone to try this at least once. It's suitable for all drivers from novice to experienced. You won't be disappointed!!!
Received a 2 year Associates Degree in Drafting and Design. The degree allowed me to obtain a position as a Draftsman . While working as a draftsman I continued my education by taking courses at Central State University in Edmund, Oklahoma where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. Since Physics covers electrical and mechanical I was able to obtain a position with a Medical Device company working in their Reliability Engineering department. I ultimately studied and took the test to become a Certified Program manager. The medical device company promoted me to a Director position in their Program Management Office.
I have been emailing and calling the advising office for weeks and have yet to receive a reply.
I applied May 5th, started classes on June 3rd. Admissions and financial aid has a communication barrier. Prepare for weeks of waiting for someone to process your application and transcripts just to let you know if you need to take an accuplacer test or not. They won't finish processing transcripts or aid until after the cut-off date for dropping courses, we're over a month into this process now. Aid will play word games and refuse to offer any information and tell you they only process aid on Thursdays. I have attended two colleges before this and I have NEVER had an issue with admissions or aid like I have here. They're apparently having a leadership change and that's just an excuse. There's no reason why productivity should be down during a leadership change, if you were doing your job beforehand. Which leads me to believe that leadership didn't maintain a productive work environment hence the current leadership change. Wanna call admissions and ask a question? Oh that won't happen! I had to contact OSU through facebook to receive any assistance from admissions. There's no way to contact them through phone, ever. I was told, when I was finally able to get through to financial aid, to "just come up here". What a joke. Your typical person working a 9-5 job anywhere can't waste a break and gas money rushing and risking a traffic citation just to ask a simple question. According to the OSU-OKC podcast, this school (OSU-OKC) has programs designed for the working class, for parents, and for people who have commitments and can't commit to the average college life. Everyone in admissions and aid has made this process more stressful than it needed to be. I have a mortgage and four children, I shouldn't have to do YOUR jobs!!! If your major is offered anywhere else in the city, go there and see if they have classes that work for you.
This is a great school. The security is second to none and always available and more than happy to assist anyone who needs their help. The classes are not over crowded and the professors are wonderful. They are understanding and patient with their students. The support staff are exemplary with everything they do.
Best decision for college I could have made
This school is just after money. They do not care your education! Spring and summer 2022 I had enrolled which happened to be when my mother had fallen due to her cancer and was put in the hospital.. my mother was sent home after spending ONE week in the hospital so she could be on hospice at her home. They had found multiple lesions of cancer are her brain. She was non verbal and couldn’t walk due to where the cancer was located.. Needless to say going to school was the last thing I had on my mind.. My mother fought for 6 weeks with only drinking her ensures.. not once from then to now have I received a bill or anything stating that I owed any money at all. Osu-okc had my state taxes garnished. When I tried to appeal they told me the time between was too long to file an appeal. Had I gotten a bill I could have done this a long time ago! Absolutely worse school in Oklahoma City area and Oklahoma in general. Go to a school that cares about your future and well being. Redlands, OCCC, OCU, or UCO look around before settling like i did!
