car break ins on campus shouldn't even exist, let alone at the rate they are happening. me and 3 other individuals all have had thefts from within our cars, campus security is bogus. BROAD DAYLIGHT ARE YOU KIDDING!?!?!? never even heard anything back from campus security on that. bullshit

This rec center has all the facilities to cover various different types of exercise. I mostly come for the great basketball court, but this is one of if not the best gym in Coos Bay/North Bend. I wish they had a swimming facility or hot tubs available, but I understand why they don’t at the same time, as people can be gross. Four star rating is because of the wonky hours. Over the last few years of going here, I’ve shown up during the afternoon dozens of times on a random summer day and they’re closed without a reason, and the hours are pretty much never updated on here. My knees won’t let me play out in the cold/on concrete anymore and there’s no other indoor basketball gyms available to the public, so I have been disappointed by that quite a bit. Regardless, this place is great for the prices (I get their 30 punch card for $46, which I believe to be a great deal because sometimes I’ll go a week without showing up due to my schedule.) I recommend for sure. EDIT: December 9th, why the hell is this place closed with no forewarning? So whack. Downing a star.

Very good educational institution with reasonable tuition. Most of the professors were good, some excellent. And of course, some were full of themselves. However, overall this college is a bargain. It's located in Coos Bay, a conservative bastion in liberal western Oregon. If you can get past that, you'll be fine. The campus is beautiful and easy to get around.

For everybody wanting to attend you might want to look up Nicole Gililland v Southwestern Oregon Community College. They ran her out of the college for what her career was as a teenager. Jury ruled in her favor, awarding $1.7M which was reduced to $700k on appeal. Its insane the College has still taken no responsibility or acknowledged they did anything wrong.

For the most part I enjoyed my time at the school. Beautiful campus and amazing instructors. The problem I have is with the Financial Aid and other support staff. I once watched them belittle a 4.0 student for attending school. They are completely disorganized and will lose paper work, and then charge you late fees when they fail to properly apply grants and aid. They are very rude to students who ask for help even going as far as tell students that the should drop-out. All-in-all if you are paying out of pocket and have several thousand a year to burn, its a great college. If you are use any sort of aid, be prepared for a nightmare and disrespect. All-in-all, I do not regret my choice of attending the school. The time I spend here was well worth the headache the Financial Aid put me through.

Worst. They act like they dont want anyone to attend. They kept throwing away my paperwork. I reapplied 3 semesters, wasted my time told me i hadto fill out same papers to attend and then contunued to handme the same form on repeat. I filled ouy everything on time multiple times. Just obvios they dont want people to attend their school. Wasted 3 semesters on thinking i waslate on paperwork. Realized now its just a gimmick.

I'm a freshman at SWOCC, I live on campus and it's been so wonderful. The dorms are great, the classroom size it perfect for me and it's small enough that I can really take on leadership roles and not be overwhelmed with a 500 person lecture hall. Not to mention location, I'm in the gem of the USA- I'm from Iowa and the scenery here and hiking trails are incredible. Not to mention professors- they are all great but you have to give a damn. thats the key!

This college tells me that is open at 8 am. I go down to the college to start to sign up for class. Every door at the college is locked up. Website is wrong or not cares to come to work on time. lol lol lol

The food they served here is dull and tasteless,they start strong at the beginning of the year, yet it all begins to lack effort sooner or later . There is not much to do around campus and town unless you pick up drinking from what I've heard happens in most cases. I will reconsider my options next year and you should too! What a 1horrible waste of money unless you're a local
