I graduated in Jan 1994, class of 93. Back then, Marriott ran the food service and I really enjoyed the food. I also took catering and cleaning jobs around campus. There was a requirement to attend chapel sessions every week, and I got put on chapel probation a couple times near finals for extra study. I really enjoyed dorm life and made several friends. The business professors were friendly and willing to help with questions about homework outside class hours. No, I would never consider this place LGBTQ friendly, that is part of the belief system. No sex is permitted on campus except in married housing. In my day, dancing was not permitted on campus, and official clubs could also not hold dance events. That used to be part of the belief system a long time ago. But at least we could still go to raves and clubs. I rejected one uni that forbade ANY dancing. The annual talent show, and tradition are events to look forward to, and alumni attendance is encouraged. The homeless were looked upon with more compassion than now. There was an outreach mission and at one time, SPU hosted a tent city.
I just got accepted into Seattle Pacific University for Computer Science staring Autumn 2025. I'd like to say that I personally chose this school over others precisely because of the Christian Faith. I was never a fan of UW Seattle despite it being in the top 10 CS rank of USA. This is because I believe that education first and foremost should answer the innate human desire for purpose. I believe that this faith is necessary to foster national unity and progress. There's a value of the spirit that transcends the material value and the result of any endeavor isn't decided by the material value alone.
This was once a great institution. they started pushing these Neo-Marxist hateful doctrines on their students about how white people are bad and diversity is our greatest strength, every single trendy newspeak mantra. Hopefully someday they’ll come back to their Christian roots, to stop the freefall collapse.
Great school. Just dropped off my daughter for her first year
I graduated from SPC (SPU) in 1974 and the cost was $3300/year included room and board. God provided for me. The costs of SPU today is sinful and full of glut. All endowments should reveal their expenditures every year as a public statement showing HOW it helped individual students. Higher Education has to change from top down. Consider less costly online courses to fulfill requirements. In the school of nursing, consider a years long specialty course which gives certification. Make changes and make education affordable, trimming off all unnecessary glut.
not only is this school cutting out many majors but they’re not letting students finish their degree’s, and have yet to explain why we are unable to finish them. This is leaving many students flustered with no where to turn, we haven’t heard back how much longer they will allow us to study here under our intended majors with very little time to apply for Fall classes at any other university. highly unprofessional on the dean and board of trustees behalf. i would not recommend to ANY future students you never know how much longer your major will last at this school. 0/5
I only sat in a class here. I really enjoy the environment and will consider them for grad school.
I’m guessing a lot has changed from previous years, not for the better. Despite portraying Christian values, SPU seems very dishonest, desperate for money and has lost site of their focus. They do a great job at painting a beautiful picture when you visit but after your son or daughter has enrolled everything changes. We’ve even noticed that the homeless population disappears during scheduled campus tours. There is not the support you would expect from a small university. The admin and faculty seem at war with their own politics and can’t figure out what they stand for. Instead of just asking for more money, they find fees, fines and rely on antiquated policies to steal any dime they can. Sadly, I think this may be the end of what was once an incredible private university.
All I can say is I am so glad this is my daughter's last year. Her experience at this school has mad her hate college. She is even talking about not finishing her masters degrees. She now got placed in an apartment that is falling apart, the door doesn't stay shut unless you deadbolt it. The place smells of animal urine, including the furniture. Someone was supposed to show up today by 4pm but of course they didn't. My question is what the hell are we paying for. So sad that a beautiful campus treats the students this way.
Seems like a decent school, I'm excited to start in June.
As an Alumni who attended 2012 to 2016 I can confirm that what was once an incredibly welcoming and lush campus with a wonderful president, wonderful staff and supported range of LGBTQ+ students is all but lost. Deeply disappointed in the …
These folks take themselves very seriously, such is the trend for liberal arts universities that are more consumed with their messaging and optics, than their products and services -- namely, how well they prepare students for high skill …
I have had a really bad experience here. Most students are the spoiled, sheltered, preppy type. Majority that I have encountered are very cliquey, immature, fake, and just plain unfriendly. I find it quite ironic, because the school often …
Went to college here and absolutely loved it! Great professors who care about the students and always willing to help. I met great friends here. They do a good job at being open minded and encouraging Christian faith without cramming it down anyone’s throat. I am a passionate Christian and I appreciated this!
One of the most beautiful and serene campuses in Seattle. Great lawns separate the buildings from one another. Classical architecture with a mix of modern creat this hillside college on Queen Anne. Great school
This homophobic hellscape was the worst decision I ever made.🍅🍅🍅 Dont go here. It made it to #1 for worst schools for LGBTQ folk for a reason. Trans rights🏳️⚧️ …
From the perspective of a Christian, this is an amazing University. For the most part, the professors are some of the best and brightest, and one can definitely expect a world class education here, however there are some downfalls. The …
Great financial aid (still not cheap though), academics with integrity, and a faithful Christian witness. What more can you ask of a Christian, liberal arts university? Not to mention the passionate, caring professors, and the stunning campus set in the middle of Queen Anne. I miss SPU.
Jeff Van Duzer went woke, and SPU went broke.
Pursuing a Masters in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. I really appreciated the orientation process. The faculty are professional, passionate, and involved. So far I've learned quite a bit. The program is intensive and intimate. I …
