Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards and Education Commission

Overview

Since 1936, the Alabama Fire College has delivered firefighter training. As service demands on fire departments have expanded, the Fire College has developed EMS, HazMat, rescue technician, and other programs to meet those changing needs. The Fire College’s capacity to adapt to these changes is directly attributable to the dedication and commitment of the full and part-time staff, and to the guidance and direction of the Fire College’s governing body, the Alabama Firefighters Personnel Standards and Education Commission.

I came to AFC for the Fire Department Health and Safety Officer course. The registration process was simple and clear. The facilities are clean and modern. The staff is very knowledgeable in the subjects they offer. Mind you- its a FIRE college. They mostly offer courses solely for the Fire/EMS profession. I would definitely recommend it. I will be returning in the future.

I always enjoy the opportunity to visit one of the best training centers in the country. All their staff and instructors are top notch and the facilities are well maintained. I've had several opportunities to train their myself as well as having several of my students attend there after highschool.

I had the pleasure of attending Rope Rescue I/II; both courses were some of the best I’ve encountered in my career in the fire service. The instructor cadre (Neil, Shaun, Collin, Connor) were highly professional, knowledgeable, and very passionate about the subject matter. They were genuinely invested in the learning experience they provided for their students. I look forward to returning for future coursework!

I went to Alabama, Fire college for a week long fire officer for class. The campus is immaculately, manicured, and very well-kept with zero trash and nothing out of place. The staff and instructors are very friendly and will make every effort to ensure that the student learns the materials that they need to know the better themselves and the fire service.
