The campus is a mixed bag of nice a nice lay out, new building, old building, broken streets around the perimeter. The main building where parent would normally end up looks great but the oh if u check out the dorns if looks like they are still in the 80s. Wasn't expecting this type of vibe at all. I at least hope the have good events outside of football.

It wasn't my preference but my daughter was locked in from the beginning. I now know she's made an excellent choice!

I was lost, there is a need for better roads for these students to drive on

I applied to JSU, but the staff is so ghetto. Nobody act like they know anything when it comes to your information. Who are y’all hiring in the office? I guess anybody cause they don’t know anything. No wonder Deion Sanders left this dump! This school is so unprofessional. It’s a shame that the capital of Mississippi college is this way. I wouldn’t recommend JSU to an enemy. The saddest HBCU ever. Wasted my money and time doing the application fee and etc !

I feel like this school benefits people that already live within that area. I am from Milwaukee, WI and this process was very difficult for me. Jackson state university fits that overall description of how unprofessional, historically black colleges/universities can be. I am not going to go too much into detail, but if you are a college student like me who comes from out of state and do not come from a lot of money, this will not be a easy process. It was my dream to go to a hbcu and hopefully I will eventually reach that but jsu did not give me the confidence in myself nor in them, in order to reach my dream. I care very much about my education and I want to make the best decisions as possible, so I will not dim my chances towards my success by going to a school like JSU. This school gives show & tell rather than putting more light on a student’s education & outcome.

Kid on her 3rd yr. Ever since day 1 no one is available to answer calls or returns them. Then, when you call after the 100th time a month later, there’s a form to fill out that delays student loans/financial aid and you’re forced into a ridiculous payment plan…and for what when loans have been approved but the school apparently is too understaffed to accept them?! Showers barely work, can’t drink the water half the time, AC just repaired & murders on campus. Hopefully the kid realizes attending an HBCU is overrated & over priced and just go online for a bachelors for a quarter of cost & answered calls to help fund education.

As an Alumni, it was great to see the campus after so many years. It has grown for the better and is simply beautiful. The bookstore is staffed beyond your needs and the staff was very nice. The new dorms and the layout of the expansion makes me proud to be a Tiger. Go J State.

One of the worst schools in America. Going to this school is like a blessing and a curse. I have never seen an HBCU that does not like black students and caters to only white and Indian students. They don't like you if you are black and actually smart and heaven forbid if your parents don't have money. The College of Business is the worst department out there. All of there DEPARTMENT HEADS especially ACCOUNTING AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP ARE RIDICULOUS!!! There is nepotism in the accounting department and nobody will say anything because the head is doing it. Entrepreneurship that woman is just the devil himself, and she will tell you that nothing is going to happen to her because she has been there for over twenty years and nobody will touch her. I think regrets in life are pointless because you can always learn from your mistakes but with this school I do regret stepping foot in it. I was so excited when I attended college, and I was looking forward to being fascinated with learning and meeting new and interesting people. I had no idea I was stepping into a HELL hole. If you have no other choice get your undergraduate degree there and never look back. Don't pursue anything in graduate studies!!!

Some of the best days of my life were spent attending Jackson State. The student to teacher ratio was small enough to get personalized attention, and large enough to have the "college" feel. I wasn't treated as a number, but as an adult on a mission to succeed. I truly love my dear old college home and support them every chance I get.
