URGENT WARNING: AVOID NOVA'S NURSING PROGRAM - A Hub of Threats, Fraud, and Retaliation My experience with the Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) Nursing Program has been nothing short of a nightmare, compelling me to warn the public about the severe risks this institution poses to its students and, ultimately, to community health. This program is not the beacon of academic excellence it claims to be; instead, it is a deeply flawed system plagued by faculty misconduct, academic fraud, and administrative retaliation. 1. Public Threats and Harassment by Faculty: My attempt to address a legitimate concern about a professor's absence from a required clinical session resulted in a horrifying public threat from Professor Jennifer. In front of my peers, she yelled, "Who the hell are you? I am going to kick you out of the nursing program." This unprofessional and threatening behavior created a hostile and fearful learning environment, which went completely unaddressed by the program's leadership, who seem more interested in protecting their faculty than their students. 2. A Fraudulent Program with Compromised Exams: The academic integrity of this program is a sham. I have direct evidence that the NSG 211 final exam was completely compromised, with a cheat sheet containing answers to 30% of the exam circulating among students before the test. NOVA nursing program leadership and particularly NOVA President Dr. Anne was notified but took no meaningful action to investigate or ensure fairness. This is not just cheating; this is fraud sanctioned by the inaction of the program's leadership. NOVA is graduating nurses who did not earn their credentials, who relied on cheat sheets instead of critical thinking. Any nurse who graduates from this fraudulent program is a risk to you, your family, and your community. Their degree is built on a foundation of deceit, and NOVA owes everyone the truth, an explanation, and immediate correction. 3. Retaliation from Associate Dean Dr. Brooks: My attempts to seek justice were systematically blocked by Associate Dean Dr. Brooks herself. This wasn't just poor administration; it was a deliberate act of retaliation. After I reported the cheating, the retaliation was swift and specific. Out of over 80 students taking the NSG 210 final, I was the only one forced to take a paper version of the exam while everyone else used a computer. The result? My grade plummeted from a consistent 85+ average to a 66 on this final. This highly suspicious exam was evaluated solely by Dr. Brooks, not the course professors, and she has flatly refused my requests to review it. This is a clear abuse of power intended to punish me for my report and speak out. 4. Poor Education and Willful Blindness to Cheating: The poor quality of education is starkly evident in the NSG 211 course taught by Professor Elizabeth. This course is a case study in failed instruction and ignored academic dishonesty. The practice materials provided are completely insufficient, and the lectures do not align with the exam content, setting students up for failure. Even more alarmingly, Professor Kane-Glass appears to turn a blind eye to academic integrity issues. There are glaring inconsistencies, such as irregular student attendance records that somehow result in unusually high grades and pass rates. This suggests that the program is not just failing to teach, but is also failing to ensure that its graduates have genuinely earned their qualifications. NOVA and its nursing program have fundamentally failed. They have failed to provide a safe learning environment, failed to uphold academic integrity, and failed to treat students with fairness and respect. They owe the public an explanation for how they allowed their program to become a pipeline for potentially unqualified healthcare providers. Shame on the NOVA President, shame on the NOVA Nursing Program leadership, and shame on the entire NOVA Nursing Program. I urge anyone considering this program to look elsewhere.

Took both classes for fun, career exploration and a career change. Wonderful instructors, great prices for the education you receive. Most of my instructors were great, only had one that was flaky. I noticed somebody mentioned they had to retake classes. I have a degree from a 4 year university, was able to transfer all credits - it was not an issue and easily done by requesting official transcripts be sent directly to NVCC.

NOVA is by far the best community college I've been to, i spent a couple of months here and there but NOVA was my settlement. I did two years here at NOVA and then transferred to George Mason to finish my nursing course. Now only a couple more months and i get my diploma. NOVA provides you with many benefits, for new comers the staff is really warm and welcoming and i would say mostly in my two years I've had the best educational experience. If you want to start off slow and steady NOVA is the right place. Financially it is not that bad and they provide so many benefits. Success starts at NOVA.

One of the worst community colleges out there. The people here that works there are not very friendly, nore are they helpful. They are extremely unprofessional at their job. They don't care about the student there, only in money. This school will do it's best to screw you over and steal your money. The professors here are a hit or a miss. Some of them are really good, but mostly alot of bad ones that works there. The food is kind of bad, not all but a few. The summer classes are a joke and they won't give you time to study. They will rush you with your work. The counselors and the financial aid office are very bad. They don't care about the student nore they want you help you with your problem.

One of the worst institutions. Not only are they so unorganized that it's astonishing that they are still around, but they are almost impossible to transfer from. Nova will save you money, but in the long run it is much easier to go straight into a 4 year institution where they wont lose your transcripts 3 times, or make you take an extra semester because they counseling staff has no idea what they are doing.

My experience today was similar to my previous appointment for dental hygiene care about 6 months ago. Absolutely first class care delivered by a knowledgeable student overseen by a licensed practitioner at an extraordinary low price including as many revisits as are necessary to complete an initial evaluation the depth and breadth of which I have never seen in any commercial dental practice and follow-up care such as cleaning for scaling with confirmation every step of the way and great respect for patient needs and in particular the need of the patients to slowly absorbed those elements of the experience which will deliver learning resulting in behavioral change and eventually freedom from the need for routine Dental Care or at least a reduction in the frequency of care I have taken some information about my own personal Dental situation out of this review because that would not be appropriate I believe this is a general review and definitely I give them five stars they are reachable by bus by the way $35 for everything you need and you can expect to spend between 3 and 9 hours in the chair

as a student who is almost done ill say a few things... my first year in 2013 wasn't good at all i got horrible advice from the pathway lady at the time. which actually wasted a good chunk of my time and money. the teachers were not good at all and i left reviews on rate my professor . com. my second year was better because i didn't listen to that pathway lady and started to see my administrative counselor. and they knew what they were saying and helped me understand more. as the classes went on i learned alot. alot of the teachers are not so good which is why i encourage every student to rate the professors before anything other wise your stuck. i had a rude bio 102 teacher that has an issue with everything even group studies and ill leave her name left out. she can be reviewed on rate my professor. prices are a bit high but it would be better if students could park free print scan copy fax fore free and even lower the priced on food dont suck people dry. its hard to get a job especially now a days. but alot of staff are nice weird but funny students and lots of events here

Nvcc is a good school. Some of the teachers are good. The Counseling is not that great however... counseling and academic advising needs improvement. Students need support and guidance. Also, career counseling is nonexistent. Community colleges needs to step up as 4 year colleges are very expensive,, but 2 year colleges have a lot to offer. It’s the only hope for many young people. Counselors, teachers, I’m calling on you to care a little bit more. Take a little interest. Help.

I'm stuck between 2 and 3 stars because I'm not entirely sure how I feel about NOVA. But I will say that for beginners in IT like me with little to no knowledge, as of September 19th, 2017, the IT program is terrible. 1. My experience was pretty miserable. With the online classes, students are left to their own devices. Period. You're accountable for everything (which isn't a bad thing). But that's probably what it's like for most online courses at most colleges or universities- but I wouldn't know 2. The staff really is bad. Every. Single. Time. I've called to ask a question, the support was terrible and so forced. I've been hung up on, and treated like an annoyance on almost every single occasion. 3. The financial office is terrible. I called 3 times for information on my tuition and literally got 3 different responses. The last response I received was the correct one. 4. If you are going to NOVA for IT, there's a strong possibility you will struggle. For online courses, the professors aren't recourses. They'll guide you to any and every other place but them. Literally. They're only there to facilitate the course not teach it. You teach yourself. But again, I wouldn't know what it's like at other schools. For physical classes, I sympathize more. The thing about a community college is that many of the professors are new to instructing college students and adults. They're trying to build a foundation and gain experience. My current professor (bless his heart, but I literally just withdrew from the class) was SUCH a nice guy. SO sweet, VERY open and really does want to help the students.....but he doesn't know the information himself! He's in class making mistakes and the students were teaching and correcting him! He was asking THE STUDENTS that knew the information "hey, do you want to teach this one?". Again, such a nice guy, but half the students were teaching him the information. This made me soooo uncomfortable. In my head I'm screaming "what am I paying for if I can't rely on the one who is there to teach me- to teach me?? Can I trust anything he's saying? Why is he teaching this class???". He didn't know the answers to questions asked, and he didn't know the information that was on his own PowerPoint. 5. Theres no hands on tech experience or classes. I repeat, THERE ARE NO HANDS ON TECH CLASSES. My class was a hardware and architecture class but we flashed through power points. No hands on hardware and architecture experience AT ALL. Which is sad and very unfortunate. You would think that for a community college "leading in IT" there would be some hands on experience or lab. I'm sorry, but there's none :( The IT major is terrible for beginners. Unless you have enough of a foundation to get certified, don't do it. If you know enough to get certified, I'd say go for it. It's better for those who know most of the information. But again, for beginners in IT, I'm sorry but you might do better going to a 4 year college for that. I would consider NOVA for general edu classes but definitely not IT. The best class I took was my online communications class. I withdrew from both tech classes I was enrolled in. Online and in person. CONCLUSION: I hope NOVA is trying to do better, and I have faith that their program WILL get better. But right now, I'm sure there are better options out there. I value education too much to settle for less and most of all, I value myself. Again, Their (IT) program is very stressful for beginners. For those of you new to this, research before you go. Review these comments, and compare them to the information and "resources" listed on the school site. Call, call, call, for additional information and resources before you truly commit to NOVA. I'm now reviewing the Tech programs at other colleges and universities and I wish I thought of or knew this before I spent my money but I was so hungry and eager to go back to school. Don't be like me. All in all, I guess nova is pretty good- or standard I guess for a community college, but not for beginners in IT.

It's been my second year and feels like I am a part of the NOVA family, where everyone supports each other like a strong family to achieve their dreams. I have saved thousands of dollars for the same education that is being offered at some random private colleges and universities. The professors and instructors are real motivators.
