Founded in 1780 and was the first University in Kentucky. It offers 36 major programs, as well as dual-degree engineering programs, and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
Amazing campus. A lot of history here. The architecture is sublime. So many very lovely old trees. The history involved with this institution is staggering. Love the ambiance & setting of the campus. Surrounded by a neighborhood of old old stately homes.
I took my daughter and her friend there for a college tour (we're from Dayton). To try to keep it brief...... The campus was VERY CLEAN, The tour guide and The Campus Visitor Coordinator was very informative and friendly. It's a small & intimate University. My daughter and my friend were both impressed, and my daughter said she can see Transy as an option! Thanks again for your time.
The new dining hall is fabulous, the food is friendly to Vegetarians and Vegans. Truely a fabulous deal for the modest price. Under $10 Public is welcomed. Personally have only eaten the evening meal....will always choose to eat here if coming to Lexington.
The best way to celebrate July 4th is with Transylvania Patriotic Music Concert. Lexington Philharmonic's choice of music & talent makes it the best & Transylvania's beautiful outdoor landscaping keeps you cool even when temps are extremely hot.
Tour was well planned. Staff was courteous, well prepared, and knowledgeable. All question were answered in detail. All buildings were clean and well maintained. We are looking forward to many more visits!
The best place I could have asked for to do my undergraduate studies. There's a real sense of community, and the faculty, staff, and students are top-notch. A liberal arts institution in the best and truest sense, it provided me a beautifully well-rounded education while simultaneously allowing me to specialize in my particular field of interest.
I went here on a tour and loved every bit of it the tour guide was great and very informative of the buildings and how they are used as first years or further on. All the students and faculty were also very nice and inviting
From staff to student, have made us feel like a big family. We pray for the past & current students to to be healthy and have success as they move on in life. Thank you TU, for being great!!
As a parent, I would certainly NOT recommend Transy to another family or their young adult. My daughter attended Transy and we experienced numerous issues. First, after living in the dorm a few weeks, noticed security problems. Anyone could walk in off the streets (it happened) and have access to the floor. The first floor had water problems and flooded twice while there. Second, as a freshman you get the last pick of classes/instructors and that is also a major concern. Worst classes and worst instructors... good first impression! Lastly, housing wouldn't take action when her roommate was a partier and she wanted out. It was like pulling teeth to get any action from residence life. She transferred out and surprise, surprise... most of the Transy classes would not be accepted at other accredited colleges! That's a serious red flag when you're paying for a "high end" education. There are other great options for Liberal Arts Colleges in the region to consider before Transy. You don't always get what you pay for!
