I saw a cockroach in the building the other day and I also noticed that the most difficult classes they teach at this school have all become online only with no class meetings at all. Professors are overworked thus not helpful. The students are expected to figure everything out themselves. The buildings are dirty, but there’s also things to like about this school. I don’t know, my experience has been mostly soured by online learning.

This college attracts people with the hope of saving money, I’m talking kids right out of high school. Unfortunately, if you don’t have the right kind of personality and get lucky with the handful of decent professors, it will cost you too much time and additional money to go here. You have to be a total fighter, the administration is run so poorly, everything takes gobs of time. They will purposely “review” something they need to fix for so long that you’re behind in a class and then need to retake it. It’s a joke. they hire professors who don’t answer questions, don’t attend office hours, don’t respond to emails. I thought maybe our experience was one of a kind but I was talking to a mom yesterday with the same complaints. Lcc has been holding her kids paperwork since May and won’t turn it in to the state so he can take essential testing and get registered. What on gods green earth is taking them so long? If other schools can accomplish it in days, why is it taking lcc months? Quick to cash your check, slow to take care of students. Do not recommend. We had the means to send my son elsewhere and picked LCC because he didn’t really have a preference of 4 year university, so we thought we would save some cash. Sadly, this was a horrible choice that I’ll regret for a long time.

Making everything as complicated as possible. I am returning student and I can not get inside any building because they require a card which they are not mailing, you have to pick it up from the building where you can't enter. Before, students could get their star card onsite and now they want you to request it online only, with tons of restrictions to a photo. My class started 2 weeks ago, in a week I will have an appointment with advisor and have to spend 2 weeks waiting on card. Sadly, I started getting a degree at this college and more than half way done, I wish just never deal with this place again.

Felt like another number and not like a student trying to better themselves. Financial Aid is less than helpful and unwilling to explain how appeals are reviewed and approved or denied. Asked for a Success Coach and never received one, not even a follow up call. However, I have no complaint about any of the professors I have had, they are all uniquely wonderful. Administration on the other hand needs a replacement A.S.AP..

Do not go to this school if you have a disability. There is no DASS, and they do not comply with the ADA. They will argue with you to tell you that you are not the only student who needs help. They are condescending and unprofessional. *Update: I am in the middle of a semester, and my grades are important to me. I do not have time to reach out, but I plan to file a formal complaint at the semester's closing. I am no longer interested in asking for help at this school. I wholeheartedly believe my statement is accurate, and I will prove it with my evidence.

For the best experience, you must be proactive and you must advocate your goals and you must explore where you want to go. Tuition is reasonable and scholarships can be abundant. The ideal setup, depending on one’s circumstances, is to start here and use Lansing Community College to get to the next destination, whether it is a sought employer or university. I strongly recommend networking and using all available resources to find and develop a constructive resonance with potential instructors. Don’t hesitate to ask questions. There are countless people and support services ready to help people of all backgrounds and needs. Be advised and cautioned that the summer semester can be a bit more challenging due to its condensed schedule and that online classes tend to have some trade-offs that need to be carefully considered. There have been many notable infrastructure investments and student life improvements for activities and events. Of course, parking can be a bit of a trick sometimes, but carpooling or finding alternative nearby locations can reduce expenses. Make sure to apply for FAFSA as soon as possible for prime planning. By going here first and developing a strong core foundation, one can also save a lot of money rather than paying higher prices for comparable education elsewhere. Also, Lansing Community College develops strategic partnerships with many higher learning institutions and even hosts the joint University Center at the downtown location. But don’t forget to have fun and forge memories with your community while you endeavor your STAR journey.

I have been a student here for quite some time. I have only ever had one professor that has conducted themselves in an unprofessional manor. I want to make it clear that the professors here are not the problem. I have had some very hard working and helpful professors. The problem is the administration. Not one division of this college is exempt from this. The counselors, advising, the success coaches; it's all a joke. They don't take their jobs seriously. You are just another number to them and they are just after money and trying to do as little work as possible. They just keep changing things that negatively effect students and don't give them any heads up.

Some of the teachers at Lansing community college are awesome! However, I am not impressed with the community college as a whole. One of the reasons being I feel their classes require you jump through a lot of more hoops that I have encountered while attending any university. For example, they require a lot of placement tests, which I did not encounter while attending Ferris State University. Also the graduation rate is very low!

If you like hikes in tuition every year, paying for things you can't use, and staff that are about as smart as a rock, this is the school for you. Their tuition may be lower than other colleges, but you can take a lab cheaper at MSU due to the fees LCC likes to charge for all their classes. If you need to speak with an adviser, go talk to a wall. It would honestly be more helpful. I have talked to them numerous times and never had a single question answered. As far as their instructors go, I have had some that are completely useless, but I have had more that are fantastic and truly care. Although, from dealing with the administrative staff, it is clear that it is not from the school pushing that behavior and attitude.
